personally I bet that they are "forged" powdered metal.
can you explain that one I am not sure what that is?
Daimler Chrysler uses the same crap for its connecting rods in the 4.7 and 3.7 engines. Its a metal substance (the compound varies) thats literally powdred metal just like a fine dust to a fine sand dependiing on the courseness called for. They pour the powder into a mold and compress it with a lot of heat. The powdered metal melts and then takes the shape of the mold so technically its forged as they used pressure. Not enough heat and the inner metal does not melt bond to each other well and you get a weak part.
