Still wouldn't what to strike a spark around paint thinner.  It would take a torch to set off diesel. And nicer on the old skin.  I've used clean diesel when I have cut a finger half off to clean it up for the staples.

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

Only way paint thinner will light off is the same as with diesel.You need to wick or atomize it.Otherwise no problem.Diesel is nicer to the skin but as we all know now it's a bad idea to not use gloves with any petroleum product.Right? ;D ;D ;D ;D Just funnin' with ya.

Wouldn't they give some more plunge room for end of axle.  Or better yet a place for the axle to plunge to if you made you own hub and didn't want to/couldn't  cut out for the axle to plunge.  Did that make sense.

I agree the bearing should probably be cleaned when greased, but not always the easiest thing to do.  At least with fitting they get some grease.  I put grease fitting on my center spool, and on the rear wheel hubs, can assemble with minimal lube then fill er' up when assembled.

IMO ,and I may well be wrong but it's MY opinion anyway, Having a zerk will at least get the cv's some clean grease instead of waiting till one fails like most people do.IMO they're a good idea BUT I'd like to see some details of how it distributes the grease evenly IF it does that is.

Even distribution?  It says nothing about even distribution.....

Why? All the old is pushed out as new is added.

Where do you think the old grease goes?  Out in the boot of course.....

Looks to me like a good way of adding a bit of lube between regular teardown's and inspections.  Not a solution to all CV maintenance.  It may prolong the time between teardowns.......

That's why I ask.

ANd it pretty much stays there.
 I agree it's just a bandaid in lieu of full maintenance tho.BUT consider that cv's pretty much wipe their races dry quickly as they travel through hi mis angles and I think you can see the of adding grease in smaller amounts at close intervals may be a really good thing for cv life..

 ::) ::) ::) ::)
          I can't see much more then a ring turned out with a hole drilled and taped for a zerk here guy's.  I'm not seeing any hidden passages in that ring to distribute the grease.
