ALERT!!!! Unisteer U-joints

I have the early unit. The splined w/pinch bolt u-joint that comes with the unit that fits the small /output side of the EPS unit is apparently a huge POS. To be fair ,I HAVE NOT yet contacted unisteer. I have no idea what their opinion will be at this point.I am only posting this to warn others to check the thing out. The splines in the uj were completely stripped even though the pinch bolt was still very tight. The EPS shaft splines were in pretty much perfect condition.Upon checking, the uj is soft as butter. I had just spent my 12th day in the dunes when this happened. Glad as hell it didn't happen even 10 seconds earlier ,blasting through the trees. Fortunately I was just through the transition at the bottom of Buttercup (Little Sahara) when it let loose and all I did was a couple nice donuts till I figured out it was not going to respond.
SOoooooo anyone running the uj supplied with the Unisteer EPS, CHECK IT OVER CLOSELY!!

I pull the joint loose front rack, and this last trip pulled steering wheel from hub. One bolt barely threaded. Guy was wanting a quick ride til he saw the loose wheel, then ? ? ?
