Sprocket bolt pattern??
« on: January 21, 2009, 08:32:25 AM »
Wasted whole day at work searching internet for a place to find the bolt pattern for rear sprockets.  Anyone have a place they have run across.  Need to get larger rear sprocket for buggy and already have it drilled for a 6 bolt Kawasaki pattern.  Found one place in England that had it listed at 104mm.  I'm not sure my measuring the old will be accurate enough.

Do you have a digital caliper?
If so, accurately measure one of the mounting hole diameters with the caliper. Now zero out the display (without closing the caliper) and measure outside of hole to outside of next hole. (not across the the sprocket, but the next hole on the bolt circle.) Post up this number and how many holes are in the pattern. With this I can tell you what you have.

Zeroing out the caliper like I'm saying above is just an easy way of getting the center to center distance on holes of the same size.

94 zx600 kawasaki.  Didn't want to be without the only sprocket.
Not digital but I will try and get something deasent.  I can redrill the mounting plate for something new, but will be hard with it welded to the hubs.

Yes would like one of Doug's if I can make the 60 workout.  If not I'll have to go custom and I have a couple places trying to price, but most all want the pattern 1st.

Just go to Harbor Freight and buy a cheap set of 6" digital calipers.
They will cost you less than shipping the sprocket.
You'll save yourself the shipping charges and have the calipers for future use.
If it is a 104mm bolt circle, the dim between holes will be 2.047" or 52.00mm
Or just measure straight across (since there are 6 holes) it will be 104mm or 4.094"
The geometry don't lie. If you sent it to me, the method I described is exactly how I would determine the size.  I'd measure it!

I can also determine if the bolt pattern will be allowed in the lady sprocket. If I have the hub and it dont fit Ill rework the hub free of charge as long as its steel. (no cast or aluminum)

OK here's what I come up with: the bolt circle is 4 7/16 and because it is Japanese it metric=112.7mm?? 6 bolt.  The sprocket needs to pass over type 2 CV so I need a 4" hole in center.  This doesn't sound right ???  How about I put the sprocket on copier and mail/fax/email the pict.  That would have the holes correctly measured.
Whats the diam of the 60 tooth sprocket, I think I can make it go.

Here a pic, I unbolt outer cv slide sprocket over axle and up to mount disc.  The inner cv is more of a pain to remove and re-align.
