FNR keeps popping out of gear?
« on: February 02, 2009, 11:16:46 AM »
I have what appears to be a RPM FNR. When I nail the throttle it will intermittently(more than I would like) pop out of drive. Any clues?

Your shifter should have a mechanism for locking it in gear. I have to pull my shifter to the side to unlock it from a notch before moving forward or back then it goes back into another notch for forward or reverse.

Any tranny SHOULD have a detent mechanism to keep it in gear.I don't know if the RPM does or not but relying on the shifter (and cable slack) to keep in gear is not good IMO.

The RPM has a detent. There is a soft and a hard detent option, hard for not depending on the shift and soft to depend on it. I would rather depend on the shifter and have it easier to shift. The Honda FL350 and FL400 both have locks on the shifter.
