Newbie in Illinois
« on: March 10, 2012, 12:35:16 PM »
Hey guys! New to the forum here and I am looking to
long travel convert my sandrail... Not sure if it will
happen this winter or not! Any how to's, advice or anyone
that is good in the fabbing business that has spare time
to fab-up the front of a buggy?? ;D I have a conventional
set up of a VW. Looking to do the conversion then put in
a Supercharged 3800 in it. Any advice would be appreciated!!

Thanks,

Tonka

Welcome Tonka!

DS Racing is the man to talk to about doing the A-arm conversion setup. I've been running it on my sand car for 5 years now and I couldn't be happier with it. An a-arm long travel front end with 26" of wheel travel beats the hell out of vw's 6". 8) 8) 8)

Does anyone do conversons like this? Heim joints located in the middle of the buggy for strength and impact transfer to the middle of the buggy? Just curious! I like the "true" A-arm set up though! ;D

sorry I have been busy with a lot of stuff lately and haven't had to time to do much. the one concern on those pics above would be the single shear point at the frame on the rear of the arms imo. I pm'd you my # and a barrel of JD would be a lifetime's worth ! LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO
