Could also possibly mount it to dash crossbar and use a bellcrank as earlier suggested.

you will have a dash soon so if  your mouinting the shifter on the cross tube beside the steering wheel then  you can just run a big hoop out and zip tie it to the hood cross bracing. that large of hoop which would be 180 * bend essectially but in a like a 16" to 24" hoop wouldn't hurt anything and if you go with the 1/4" push pull from inland truck like wes and what jon has then you would be just fine. those cable those guys make are great and tied in a pretzel you can still use 2 fingers to easily slide it.

no you cannot leave the cable bent up like a pretzel  but all of the ones I have had made at ITP in omaha ne i have twisted them and tired the 2 finger test and they past! some maybe a little stiffer than others but all moved fairly free for me.

I plan to mount the shifter where you push forward/back for action. Not up/down.  My thought was only 90* turn instead of the 180*.  Havn't messed with buggy much in last few weeks time to get back on it.  Just thought I'd start another project since I've not finished the other 6.  rofl drowning rofl  But I've got most all the pieces order to finish everything up, hopefully.

And I've another $$$ pit I'm into now, details soon.  But I'll say this my f150 4dr truck is for sale.  ;D

Think about that a bit more Carl. YOu can do a dash mount, have forward/back action AND have no 90 in the cable. If you don't figure it out I'll paint something up when I get to work in a bit.

Black X is pivot point. Blue is shifter with the 90* direction change as needed. Green is bottom exit cable. Doing this will give the cable the most direct routing to the rear of car,I believe ,assuming I understand your situation correctly.

Yeah I can do the pivot part.  Just the cable be easier  ;D and prob a little easier to hide under dash.  But I want a good feel when shiftin.  So?

Then do this.Loop the cable to the front, down to the floor and then back.Big,large radius loop would do the trick nicely and the cable would be pretty much out of the way.

That work too, give me an up/down for shifting.  I'll look at them and see which gives largest radius.

There's this variation also.
