lol well here it comes.....i said at the dunes it sounds like you have a bad cv!
i guess you did
glad you found it which means the bike trans and rev 091 box are still in good shape. i have repacked mine once in 3 years and used half a tube of grease in each. i do plan on doing them again and the bearings in the center section before the st a trip.

I always like to expect the worst and be very happy finding it is not.
Honestly,until I actually unbolted the cv I still thought it was the chain in the adapter or a side bearing in the 091. I think the cv was binding from day one now that I think about it. I could always hear a faint clicking whenever turning a corner at low speeds that I couldn't trace down. Think I found it.

I took a few much better pics showing the damaged cage and star.Outer race had surprisingly little damage.
