So on the RZR's or any side by sides, how can they design there chassis without having side doors or anything for support? I just thought it would be easier geting in and out if the bars weren't there. Maybe I won't do the side doors? ????

Do the doors. It just takes a bit of a different cage design. Look at the smart car crash vid. It shows that a strong cockpit with operating doors is completely doable.

To get the strength they likely use heavier metal below and the roll cage above.

I would wonder how easy a RZR might fold in the middle if it was taken across rough terrain at speed with no roll cage to support it.

Check out the July\August sand sports mag.  Page 36 and37. Say no more. Could be a door skin over the tubing if you liked. I think there is a complet build log on the buggy some where.  I'll look. If I remember he made neat latches that slid in and out of the top rail.

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

For the latch I'd suggest a camburg tube connector with a tube slipped over it for retention in place of the bolt. The hinges would be just double shear mounted similar to an A-arm mount.

Spring load the slip tube and you got a bulletproof latch that can handle tension and compression loads.. If you want more than one then a simple interlock could be done.

Well there are a lot of lawsuits in progress as we speak because of the side-by-sides and the doors (or lack thereof) At first, I don't think there was any structure to protect an occupant in a side-by-side was there??
But the brains and ideas are in motion to get the door job done safely now!  :)

I think the biggest problem with the no doors and the lawsuits was arms and LEGS especially flopping out and getting crushed in a flip or roll or tip over. Not the cage itself collapsing or anything like that. Just body parts being able to flop out.

Much of the cure is just a webbing strap across the doors to hold the riders body parts inside the existing cage.
