Do you guys ride with Glenn Zeiness? I may have spelled that wrong. Yellow 6 cyl. Subaru. He sent me to this forum.

Boy that name sounds familiar. :i

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

Almost all of the regular posters here go to LS 1-2 times a year. Some more often. We also go to St.Anthony,Idaho as often as we can .

when you get that suby trans all setup up with 930 flanges and for 2wd in the rail measure it and post the specs please. total length and flange width on the 930 flanges. i know the megasand is the same width as the 091 which are 2" wider than the mendeola trans.  i think the diff sits lower in the case on that suby trans as well but not positive on that one. the 6 speed awd wrx sti trans is claimed to handle 600hp in stock form.

Thanks guys. The motor I have, although incomplete right now, is a 2.5, non turbo, from a 2007 Impreza 2.5i. dsrace, do you go to Little Sahara? I will plan on going with the aftermarket ecu/harness. I will ask another 200 questions as they come up!! I read somewhere that it was possible to bolt a different (cable throttle)to the intake, using an adapter for the bolt pattern. But I can't confirm that, yet.

I have pretty much the same engine. I sourced a cable operated throttle body from Outfront, could probably find one in a junkyard from an older subaru.

dts comes through through yet again. I truly believe dts has the best info available. Now if we could just get people off all the social media and return to the best form of  disseminating info there is we can continue to do so..... Social media reaches a lot of people but it is for the most part just a fart in the wind. Info, and a lot of garbage info as well ,is there and gone..

i post links to dts on fb and tell people to search for the info on forums cause its not on fb. i have stated this in the 7.3 diesel groups on fb also. amazing how much a lot of those members do no know that is old common knowledge. i can understand if there young and new but on a forum all that info is in stikcy notes for all to read. dont see social media ending anytime soon.

Just got off the phone with Subistuff. I guess the Subaru trans is "open diff", so basically single tire drive in sand. He suggested 4:86 r.p. and limited slip diff. Approximately $4000.00. Not possible for me. Anyone else out there have experience with this?

Not so Brian. It is possible to have limited slip on the cheap.  Back in the day I could set up a differential to mimic a posse track.  that suby can't be that much harder.

I had 4:57s in my 091 before it went to south for the winter and never came back.  The 2.5/4:57 combo, did alright at Glamis (sea level), ok at St Antony (4000' + ?) and sucked at the Coral Pink (6000' +).

The newly rebuild 091 has 4:86 gears, so far haven't done anything but disturb the peace in the neighborhood.
Seat of the pants, feels a lot snappier, as in, it will light up the street tires in a corner if not careful and it wouldn't do that before.
