Fix FUBAR day

 ;D ;D Well we all do it whether we admit it or not.AS many of you know I am basing some of this car on R16 plans.I am using the front suspension pretty mush as drawn by Rorty with a bit of beefing up and minor changes.The a arm geometry is as he drew up. I admit his plans are as complete as any I've seen but he did miss a couple of details in dimensions.I built the a arm jigs to plan.OR SO I THOUGHT!!! LOL!!!!! Most stuff is dimensioned from centerline but this ONE LITTLE ONE was NOT which was from the edge.Long story short the heim bung ended up directly in line with the upper bung.YEP,no caster. OH well nothing 8 hours of jig redo ,tube bending,notching and welding didn't fix.It's been  FUN day!!! ::) ;D ;D



YES I built both lowers wrong to start with. Anyone want a set of R16 lower arms? All you'd need do is offset the upper mounts 1" to the rear and they would work fine.I'll sell em for the cost of tube.

If you have not had to remake atleast 2 thing then you are not done with buggy yet.  Least thats the case for me.

OK, just so engineer won't be a skeptic.LOL!!!! No the arm is not braced yet.Need to locate shock mount point first.

I WISH I had a neighbor kid who would do it! Artie,you're too kind. Yes,I do all my own work-usually.On this car I have the help of engineer on the tranny adapter pieces and another member(still don't know if he wants his name mentioned) doing the keyed upright pieces.That's the most I have EVER had any help with on any project. AS for the welding I can honestly say I've never had a weld fail.Hopefully the record will continue.LOL!!!!

Very nice!!  And a kudos on the welding!  Frame looks like its about done. 




Are those the 7/8" rod ends?

LOL!!! You guys have some REALLY good eyesight! I can't even see the welds! I'm no pro by any means and all I do can always be done better. Thanks for the kind words tho.
 YES those are 7/8x7/8 4130 kev/tef QA-1 heims.

OH!,the frame is nearly done but for hanging rear suspension. Need some tranny parts before I go there. Hint,hint.LOL!!!!  I have plenty to do tho while waiting. 8) ;D
