I agree that the sloppy racecraft stuff and others like them let you flop around but the newer styles like the Hunsakers are IMO the only way to go even for short periods.I know all the pro/con arguments. But IMO I believe anything that will keep you nicely supported and adds additional deceleration time is a positive I want. Hunsakers do that.

Will Hunsakers 'build' to suit individual spine shapes (like damaged)? Thats why I found (steel in the old speedway days) these seats to be for me (I got a spec style back, only his is fugged up better than mine).

I guess im used to them, heaps of people use em out here. If you think they are cheaper, they often arent, by the time you use up almost a whole sheet of 2mm aluminium and then get the edging then get upholstery done...

Anything that allows you to move, magnifies impact when it does stop....I hate the damn things myself, but as i said, race only vehicle deserves a race only seat...

This thread got me to thinkin,
I should build a non model of the rorty seat and, try the dual foam idea
All bumps and jars cause me pain,,,Maybe with the soft couch type foam, with some of that energy absorbing stuff under it Id have the best of both worlds...Now I just gotta hack out some bars so I can get in the effers...Got a saw Fabr 8)

You are SOOOOOO wrong in that statement. You got it backwards.Anything that INCREASES the decel time is a HUGE benefit when it comes to impacts.

What impacts?? You must build hard suspension into your cars....

Seriously, I hit a set of tank track marks (yep leopard tank, one of our races was on an army test ground), I reckon they were maybe 12" deep and 20" across with real square edges.

Hit em flat out so hard that the shafts on 4 of the 10 bilstien shocks bent (no surprises there im sure), and my spine is not good but i got out ok.

I think my 14" suspension travel went to 16" that day... man it went bang.. navigator was belting me all the way back to the pits....
