How to make a low cost FRN 4x2,4x4 transfer case

Start with a small remote 4x4 transfer case like the Suzuki.  Then:

What knida reduction in the box.  Direct coupling to to motorcycle, but on output? Going to diff?  Throw up some pics of your install.

Without counting the teeth in the gear box, looks like its around 2:1 in the box.  Coupled to most any irs diff, in 3-3.5:1 and the ratio should be on the money.  Leave front unhooked for 2wd? let it spin alt?

there are 3 different sj transfer boxes each with slightly different ratios, low range is around 2 to 1 but that becomes your reverse so you go backwards at half speed, but you can tow twice as much  ;D
hi range is around 1,4 to 1, depends if its from a 410 a 413 or a sammy,
Mark is using sidekick diff housings with rover torsen LSD  diffs in, ratio is 5.125
you can select rear drive only or 4 wheel drive as you wish


explosive acceleration  8)

whAT KIND OF TORQUE/hp DO YOU SUPPOSE THAT TRANSFER CASE CAN HANDLE?  I am quite interested in this setup if you think it would handle a well boosted busa.

l think the general opinion is that they will take a V8 with out any problems at all, when you eventually overpower them they split the case but there are plenty of cradles available to prevent this happening, some where like  the suzuki section on pirate would be the place to ask for numbers ?

Now if we can just figure out how to get a low range and the engine to sit lower I'm all in favor of this. Maybe the engine sitting higher that I'd like be offset by mounting other things below it. Gotta think. OUCH!!!!

Maybe you could index it to the side so the engine centerline was the same or closer to being the same as the driveline. That would lower it a bit......
