Classic look of a hammered first thread. In the first picture I can see the thread is smashed down on the very end starting at the first thread. If it happend when you took the stud out to take the picture OK but if it was there when you put the lug nut on then that is what tore up the threads on the nut and stud. When you have a hammered thread on the end of a stud when you screw on the nut it will galled or pull the threads off of the nut. A lot like cross threading but not really. Classic sign of a macho to large air hammer. When the nut was started it was tight and when you drove it on down it welded the stud threads to the nut threads. So when you went to take it off that's when the shit hit the fan. Things that could have made this happen.1 To big of and air impact hammer2 To large of a four way spanner wrench3 To much muscle4 To much much beer5 Bad night on the town see number four Wheel studs should always be dressed off on the ends after they have been removed from a hub. If the first thread gets turned down any at all it will tear up the nut threads. Not saying you did this. The guy that had if before you could have screwed it up and when you took the wheels off to put on the rollers is when things went south.
There should be one full thread showing minimum.

1. I use DeWalt cordless 1/2" No way to adjust it. 2. Too deep - maybe it was the breaker bar?3. Flab boy - I sued to be hot and heavy at the gym. Need to get back to it. 4. Don't really drink - six pack will last me months5. Spend all my money on toys - who has any to go out on the town? I vote for number 2 - but from the sounds of it I can stick with the same length. I cant imagine that the alum wheel is going to be thicker than the rollers? That's cool. One less thing to worry about - Off to Karl's next week to buy one......
Well, just measured. Looks like the alum are thicker. So, ten new studs for me - hope i can find them. Maybe i would be well served to look online. Gear one hubs...
