Mendi,Fortin or Albins
« on: September 17, 2008, 03:00:44 PM »
I'm considering a mid engine 2 seat 700 HP build ,1800#'s ,with 33" tires for the desert. I'm afraid of the Mendis but what's the opinions about the other 2? I've always heard that the Albin is the best but will a fortin hold up as well in this application?

loyalty to the American people."

Mate, I havent used the Fortin or the mendi, only Charlies (Albins) stuff (and years ago at that), but if memory serves me correct the fortin is rated at a lower horsepower capability than you intend running. Dont quote me on that, best do the research. I raced against Charlie years ago in my first off road life and his stuff wasnt so developed then of course but it was always very very good.

I know the Albin stuff is top shelf but it's been a while since I checked on the Fortins but I think they've got a couple rated high enough but if I'm going to spend the money I'd like to know of real world results. I don't really want to put out the coin for an Albins unless it's really necessary.

You can get albins gears in a mendi now.....  Does that tell you anything?

You need to go read Mendi's site.....  Any broken transaxle seems to be due to driver error.....  So make sure you can accept the blame before you buy one.
