PANEL VIBRATIO
« on: February 13, 2010, 10:27:05 AM »
It has been two years in the works, I finally got the buggy to the powdercoater yesterday. Probably still to soon it still had some bugs that needed to to worked out. I do not get much time to work on it. It had to go because it was starting to rust to much.  So, for my question: the body panels are alumi bolt ons ( floor. rear deck, roof, and nose) i am getting agreat deal of vibration from them. There is a 1/8 thick piece of rubber the samesize as the tab that seperates the panel from the tab, the panel dose not touch the frame any were along the frame tubes. I thought the 1/8 inch gap would make cleaning the floor out with a hose easy. How do i elimate some or all of the panel vibration. I will post pick after i get it all back together.

I had my floor Line-XD. I still have a vibration in my side panel. I feel it is from to much of a gap between tabs. It dose not hit any thing. I would try doing something to stiffen the panel.

Rol some beads in it to stiffen it.

My panels do/will touch the tubes.  Will have a 1/16 to 1/8 foam strip between when put back together.  I felt by it having more contact there would be less vibration.  I haven't noticed any panel noise, I think my head is too close to the engine and exhaust.

Is the vibration coming from the road or the resonating from the engine?  If it's because of the engine maybe it's you motor mounts that need some dampening.  Just a thought.  It's hard to tell without seeing and hearing it for myself.
See you all duneside.😎🤙

The vibration, I believe it is from the engine vibration. The engine is mounted to the frame with no dampering (steel tabs to the engine). At this point I do not want to cut the old engine mounts out, because it will screw up the powder coating. So I need to find ways to kill the panel vibration.

For roof and side pannels go get some tweed or vynil from a fabric store. Use spray glue to hold it on. Looks VERY clean and no more vibration. For my sides and roof I spent about $50 for black vynil.

Cool idea, I like the vinyl.

Now we're gonna have to have a buggy upholstery section. nono
