Title: dune addicts youtube channel
Post by: dsrace on January 01, 2024, 03:37:10 PM
these are mainly video's from joe fabs shop in glamis. i find them entertaining due to the different variety of carnage that comes in. cannot imagine what they charge for labor rates or parts ! in several video's, they reference gear one DEEP CRYOGENIC TREATMENT cv's and gear one axles on hand, those aren't cheap. i may not agree with how the repairs are made but i do understand the why.   what i do know is that when someone with his experience, tells you what needs to be done to properly fix an issue, one should listen  ;D

the guy at 9:49 didn't want to hear it  :m

I saw one of those vids previously. They get people back in the dunes pretty quickly for sure . Some of the work is a little sketchy but the people going there don't care so long as they get back to the fun.

Correct.

Over the years, I have had customers ask if there car is all fixed up etc etc. A fair number of times we repaired vehicles along side worn out parts or know some of them were that worn. I call and explain and then let the Customer decide.  What I have learned over the years is that when they show up to pick them up and ask if they are all fixed or good to go etc etc..... just say yes. Any explanation of reality jwould ust confuse them. They just want to continue on their way exerting as little effort as possible  :nw

Knowing the above statement, yep, they paid Glamis fab to fix it , so its all fixed up.  rofl

I have watched a number of his videos. I find them oddly entertaining, to a point.

When I see them burning powder coat and/or paint off to weld everything and anything back together...... reminds me of whe the local welding shop in waynoka charged douggy $80 , to basically , weld a gusset across 2 tabs and not a pretty weld job. That was on his yellow and purple rail.

Isn't that the truth !

I cannot imagine what kind of cash cow that shop is!  The people that need them will happily pay no matter how dry they shove it in  LMAO

I wonder what it cost/s them to have the shop there.  I bet it is $$$$$$$$. Gotta factor that in to be fair.

If he doesn't own it and taxes are unbelievably high, then yes, thats a huge part of the over head. In one of the videos, i head his price on the gear 1 cv.......it was double online pricing. Not saying thats wrong, not saying I consider that gouging,  just one of the reasons I called it a cash cow. No idea how many carry cash down there either.
