When selecting a die for the tube bender, How do you know which Radius die to choice? Does the smaller one make for tighter radius than the bigger ones?

Wyatte,we must be missing something. What is it you are trying to do? There is no mystery to deciding which die to buy. The dies are all called out b y center line radius. That means the radius at the center of the tube or 1/2 way between the inside radius and the outside radius. YOU have to decide how large or small that needs to be.

Another quick question.
Building a tube bender like the one in the picture. I'm using a 4"x24" hydraulic cylinder with a log splitter valve. Want to use an 110 volt electric over hydraulic pump. What size pump would work?

Heres a quick tip. DON'T build a build a bender stand like the one in the picture. The cylinder is pressing in the wrong direction and its hell on the bender arms and causes early wear of the pivots and other bending issues.

The cylinder is best if its in more of a pushing direction like the factory kits so that the ram is pushing straight on the arm in the direction of the arms movement at the start and then follows it around.

I know a lot of guys make them like this and some work OK but I have heard a lot grumble about the problems with how the cylinder affects the bender pushing like this.
Your mission isn't to dive feet first into hell, but to make sure its crowded when you get there.
