easy tabs for anyone
« on: April 19, 2009, 02:10:35 PM »
so i always had a problem making radiused tabs, and i know others have had a problem with them to. so i decided to finaly buy a hole saw.. not sure why i never did before. but whats i do is take a piece of flat stock. i use 3/16" thick x 1.75" wide. i cut it into 4" pieces, then mark out the center, cut my 1-1/16" hole out. then i mark out my bolt holes and drill those. after i have made a few plates, i take them to the bandsaw and cut them in half. each plate gives me two radiused tabs. heres a picture.

I used to to do mine that way...
The radiusing of the bolt end takes time as well, then I went to using the plasma cutter...
I much prefer having Mumbler CNC the bar stock into tabs and whacking off what thickness I need now...toss the bar in the saw and walk away ;D

The old school way, I love it ;D. We all do not know someone that has a plasma cutter or a buddy with a CNC machine. I to have to do things the old school way. It takes time and may not be prefect but i can say I DID IT.

done that a time or 2 myself. the tabs and the "workbench radius roller" thing.
