Title: Transaxle mount.
Post by: Stickflipper on May 24, 2018, 05:14:11 PM
So I got my 091 back from being totally rebuilt, between the nose cone and main housing, they replaced that piece with one that has "massive ears" for mounting.
My question, previous it was mounted by the nose cone bolts and the bellhousing plus engine motor mounts. With this new mounting for the transaxle, do I need the engine mounts anymore?
It's a 2.5 Subaru.

Yea I know the tabs aren't welded yet, if I leave the engine mounts in place, I want to marry up the everything before I go to welding.

well i personally would ditch the nose cone mount and use those mounts under the gear carrier housing. i believe thats a weddle gear carrier housing btw. i personally would mount there and bell housing as well as motor mounts. of course since you had no issues before that works too.

just to take the stress off the nose cone is all. its a weaker place to mount vs those solid ears.     the 091 i had transman build wound up with that weddle gear carrier housing because its stronger than the stock one and i jammed the r&p and sent the gear stack through the stock housing lol trying to ride a wheelie out upon landing off a short jump just seems to be hard on trans lol

does the gear carrier housing say weddle on top?  is it fully built now with all weddle internals? in other words good to 300 ft lbs tq input?

the internals are all weddle.
I just want to cut the engine mounts off ... :) worried about the engine departing at an inappropriate moment if I do.

the trans bell hosuing alone cannot support the weight of the engine in offraod.
