Unisteer Electric UTV Power Steering
« on: July 11, 2010, 07:31:05 PM »
I have a Unisteer Electric UTV Power Steering unit on new buggy and powered it up first time today. It RESISTS any effort to steer instead of ASSISTING.  Steers normally when powered down. Anyone have one and any ideas WTH is up?

It senses you are about to crash and is taking control from you.  Or, you have it wired wrong....

Nope wired correctly. 12v+ and - input. Switched 12v+ control.1 lead to LED light. Really no way to wire it wrong.

Maybe the input shaft should be the output. ff:

You say it turns fine when powered down.  What happens if you turn part way with it off and then power it up?  Does it lock up there?  Or try to center itself?

This unit  is to only assist the turning. There is no mechanical connection. Sort of like a Jeep viscous posi. I t has no center point. I'm calling unisteer tomorrow.

Only input used is steering wheel torque input..  Only sensor there is..There are input wires for speed but not in this application. They are not used on rhinos and most UTV's.
