Extra weight=more traction=wheelie? Maybe. ???
But its the same as it was except a different engine of the same kind and cc, The only thing I think it could be is if I have put the lay shaft slightly closer to the output shaft which would make the clutch engauge at higher revs?

Nothing is gonna make the clutch engage higher lower etc besides the clutch componets, your engine is higher weighs another 50 lbs, as soon as you gas it the high weight shifts to the back tires... plus its about 100hp more than the pilot engine itself...

Did the other motor not run well?  Or did it seem to run just as well, but just not pull wheelies?  Did you do a build log on this pilot?  I want to see the subaru diff setup, and what axles you used, as well as the clutch arrangement.

Yes I know that but I am comparing it to when I had the other 800 rotax engine in it in the same place etc not to when it had the pilot engine in it.
If the belt has more slack it will engauge at higher revs because the drive clutch will need to move in more to grab the belt. Am I wrong? If so why!

to an extent maybe, but more slack would just burn the belt, It seems in the vids the belt is working rather well, did you change the clutch to? or did you have a clutch for each motor?

Actually once the belt has the weight pressure to engage it, it will slam all the way shut with no belt, so it would not matter IMO, the driven is what controls the engine rpm in reality as it lets the belt go in the driven and allows the drive to shut more... IMO

I do have a second set of clutches but these are the ones I used before, anyway its good fun if a bit of a handfull at times, I think it would be good in a drakart because its longer wider and better suspension and brakes. I am glad that I used a limited slip diff because there is no way would it turn so tight (off the power) with no diff and with the fiddle brakes it will turn very tight.

Does it feel like it engages higher rpm? a few lbs of compression difference between two engines can be night and day... My drak with no diff is a bit akward to turn tight, you really got to nail the throttle, But it does not even think to wheelie, it plants the tires and goes like hell. Amazingly enuff i raised my engine up 2" over the winter, And numerous people said the car would handle different "Bad", the numerous people were full of shit, it actually handles better IMO...

This is the build thread,
http://www.minibuggy.net/forum/pilot-odyssey-forum/5844-800-rotax-subaru-diff-into-pilot-8.html
The other engine seemed ok when it was running but I left water in it with no anti freeze over winter and cracked the cases, should have it fixed soon.
All of the pics have gone from the build thread, I will find some.

The big sprocket is the diff input.

Thanks for the pictures Lee!  That clears it right up!  ;D  Tight packaging, good job.

Are the CV's subaru or honda, or did you splice the axles?

Thanks!

They are honda pilot outers and subaru inners and yes I spliced them, funny thing is the pilot inners fit in to the subaru cv cups but I had to change the length of the shafts, shows how well or over engineerd the pilot is.
