800cc pilot
« on: April 02, 2009, 03:55:04 PM »
hello  boys

been out with Lee and his 800cc pilot again today,  hes had some issues with the engine so hes fitted another for the time being, we can only assume that the last one was down on power as with this one any more than half throttle and its big wheelie time

dont think l have ever driven anything that quick, scary stuff

first vid is here

That looks like fun!  Have you found out what is wrong with yours yet?  Or are you looking for an 800CC motor now?  What kind of 800 is it?
Does it use all of the original Honda drive parts behind the motor?

For having no where to ride, I sure see a lot of different scenery in your pics and vids.  ;D

Lees is a 800 rotax sitting atop of a subby diff, In the original pilot configuration, motor in front of trans it likely wouldnt wheelie as bad, But it still would be a wheeliing bitch...

I could sell my engine pipe etc and convert for about 500.00, but then i need a 500.00 pipe, as i dont want it hanging.... I want it to fit perfect... that is the largest expense...

Is this a kit type conversion or a one off?

Is that the motor pulley that you can see from the rear?

So you lose reverse with this setup?

Is there a jackshaft?  It seems the pulley is in line with the axles.

Do you see why my name has inquisitor by it yet?

Thanks for the pics Baloo!  They look great!

hi engineer
l still havent pulled the bottom end of my pilot apart to see where the problem is  ::) l was going to do it today but it was a toss up between fixing mine or breaking Lee's,   l guess you know which l chose  ;D,  its a rotax of some sort l dont know much about them but the really cool bit is the reverse, you just press a button and the motor reverses direction and runs backwards, who'd have belived it huh
not many honda bits in the drive train, rear hubs and thats about it

its too much power really  :o if you can have such a thing, the brakes are no where good enough for the speed you hit in seconds, the steering not up to it and the suspension cant cope at the high speeds but other than that its great  :)  need to biuld a proper mini buggy really but this is so much fun for now

l think there is a  biuld up thread on MBN of it

yes there a few place to ride but we dont have any sand or sun  :(

if you cant find the biuld up thread give me a shout l think l might have a pic of the engine/transmission during assembly

The engine can not go any further forward, the pull start is up against the back of the seat and I did not fancy using the pilot tranny because of cv cup spline issues and cost of cups.
It would wheelie before on road but seemed to spin on dirt, do not know why it now wants to wheelie all the time, are well its fun ;D

Extra weight=more traction=wheelie? Maybe. ???
