911 call for and auto alarm guy
« on: November 10, 2013, 08:58:42 PM »
Ok this really sucks.  Was loading my truck today and unlocked my truck door thru and open window.  Will I set the factory alarm off and I can not get it to reset.  The truck will not start now and the alarm will not stop alarming out when you open the doors. Key is dead and full horn and blinking lights when it go's off.  I disconnected drowning drowning drowning the bat's a few times for thirty min's at a time but still no deal.  Anyone?  This is on my 07 Dodge 3500.

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

Might not help but........

Will Poo.  Sounds like I will need a tow truck.  I have done all of that but fiddle with the fuse block.  Mite call a lock smith and see if they can help first.  Dodge box said to wait for horn to stop and unlock door with the key and start engine.  Will hell starter is locked out when the alarm is sounding.

Put the key in the ignition.

2
Turn the key forward all the way just before you hear the engine cranking.

Within five seconds of turning the key forward, locate, press and hold the valet/override button under the dashboard. It is a spring-loaded push button.

4
Hold the valet/override button until the blinking, LED light in the dashboard goes solid and the siren chirps. The alarm has been reset.

You can disarm the alarm one of 2 ways. Once the battery is connected and the doors and hood closed, use the key fob to lock and then unlock the doors. This is one method. The other method is to simply put a working key into the ignition and turn it on. One or both of these methods are designed to disarm the alarm system.

Been there  and done that.  Did not work.  My key or the wife's key.

I will try this first thing today.  I wounder if calling a locksmith would be the best thing to do?  I'lll hold off on the tow truck.

I'll Google up where the valet button should be on that model of truck.

just saw this and this happens a lot where i work. usually or 99% of the time you just shut all the doors and unlock the drivers door twice and it shuts the system down until the door is re locked. when i say twice you turn the key to unlock twice consistently. but if the other way worked then great too. valet is usually a limp mode i thought but hey i don't know the new dodge's yet either.

Sounds like it keeps the owner from stealing his own vehicle very effectively! LOL!!!! Bet a thief can bypass it in 2 seconds flat.

This did not work.  Later Dodges don't have a key hole in the door handle. You have to use a fob. When I unlocked the truck this morning it set the alarm off again.  But this time I did what what Carl said to do, I put the key in the ignition and turned it to where it should start and at the same time pushed the valet button on the back side of the little light that blinks when the alarm is set and WAla bang it stopped whaling and started.     All is good now.  Took it to the people that overhauled it last year down here and they are setting the valves for me.  Will head home tomorrow morning.
