I assume that this falls into the category of "if it sounds too good to be true ,it likely isnt"?  Ya,I know. Just looking around at crap . Got nuttin' better to do .LOL!!!!

 No,I'm not going to attempt it myself,maybe if it was just pictures ,but not taking a chance on the CAD stuff. I'll let the pro's do it. Just boils down to who do I trust. I hate to go the most expensive routes of pay top dollar for guaranteed results or no pay. Those are $2500-3500. Then there is the ones like www.platinumdatarevovery.com  that charge reasonable fees but no no recovery/no pay guarantees for $300-900. They come recommended to me by a former Gateway tech, for what that's worth. Then gamblr2355 (actually my sons' father in law-great guy BTW) is pretty knowledgable about this stuff and has some IT people he's checking in with for me about this for their opinions.  I feel pretty good about the prospects of getting the data back. Got my fingers crossed anyway.

Crap that sux, I was affraid that was what you lost.  This will be a big setback in any hopes of any additional boxes being made.

To answer the question as to why I had no backups.  The laptop has 2 hard drives. One mirrors the other . I bought it just for the reason that I would always have a complete and current down to the minute backup. Therefore I had backup. I also had the stuff on thumb drives also but WTF are they? Damn good question. Effers are going into the fire safe from now on for sure!  I know this is partly my fault for not having a wheel barrow full of backups. LOL!!!!   However,the only way to "erase " a hard drive is to format it either intentionally,accidentally,or virus.   There is a quick format that just hides from us mortals the info and then there is the dreaded full format that essentially overwrites everything with essentially no info. That takes some real time but if done the data is permanently gone. Fortunately, it seems anyway,there was not enough time to have done a full format. I should be able to get my data back. I have my fingers crossed . I am exploring 2 options as to who will do the work. Not gonna cost as much as I thought,won't know till it is diagnosed but it will be worth every penny if I get the data back. Still not cheap.
 I have been offered the use of a bazillion gig ,4 drive redundant backup,offsite service for free tho from a connection I have. They do a lot of CAD/CAM work and cannot afford to lose their shit. LMAO  Must feel sorry for me. rofl rofl Think I'll take them up on the offer?  ;D ;D ;D ;D DAMN RIGHT I AM.
 I do at least have the files to machine all the tranny adapter pieces still tho. I just lost the CAD stuff.  bs1 bs1 bs1 bs1 bs1  I thought I had the CAD stuff on memory sticks also but somehow they are AWOL.  bs1 bs1 bs1

I red somewhere that like 50% of businesses that lost theie computer files were outta business in less than a year.  Hopfully they can pull the files back out.  Check with the min-pins they prob have those flash drives. rofl
