You take starter fluid or gasoline or something flameable. Spray some inside the tire and toss a match at it.

The "explosion" inside the tire expands so rapidly the tire is forced out on to the bead and usually mounts itself.

Thin sand tires can rupture doing this.

I have also seen tires jump 15 feet into the air. Not to mention seeing the one smash the guy in the face.

It does work for tiny atv tires to giant monster truck tires. But its not without its potential dangers.

EDIT: If you do it on the vehicle the tire cannot fly about. But doing it off the vehicle on the ground get exciting at times.

so like in my case it woulda worked? even with the tire all folded in?  (it as a bitch to get the tire straightened out in order to think about seating)

Jack up the wheel ,get the weight off it and yours would have popped right back on the bead. AS in all things start out using a SMALL amount of fluid or whatever and if it doesn't work try it with a bit more. No reason for any dangerous BS happening. Of course ,stupid cannot be fixed. I don't think you'll have any problem . You might want to experiment on a couple old tires to get a feel for it.

Done right you'll have about 15PSI or so in the tire when done also.

Yah likely it would have.

The trick is to use just enough flammeable fluid. This amount varies with what type of flammeable fluid you are using and the size of the tire.

To much can be bad. Start small.

Get to much wd-40 (or other flameable lube) on a rims bead and it will help it seat but if its a load tire (as in braking or acceleration load) the tire may slip on the bead.

Get home gently if you use something slippery and take it apart and clean it right.

You don't HAVE to. But I would.

I would say that is way to much.


With this method I have also:

Had the tire catch on fire on the inside after not mounting up.

Used a pack of matches and never got a light.

Singed all of the hair off my arm.



But sometimes it works perfectly.    YMMV

I have seen a couple of my dork friends do that to a similar size tire but instead of standing up they had it laying on its side. Easy 15 feet into the air.

Still not something I like to do. A lot can go wrong.
