How is ramping up the spending going to clean it up?

You're joking. Right?

no.
"There can be no divided allegiance here.  Any man who says he is an American,
but something else also, isn't an American at all.  We have room for but one
flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is
the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a
loyalty to the American people."
Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Look at the lessons taught by history (1850 on).  Look at the responses made by well meaning people in power thinking in a 'common sense' way when trying to deal with complex issues like a freefalling economy.

Look at the previous 'crashes' and how the dilemma was exacerbated by NOT spending.

Do I need to explain the multiplier effect?

No,you need to explain how irresponsible spending solves anything.

I imagine that irresponsible spending is defined as such in hindsight.  Is that where you're coming from?

BTW, you changed your original question.

 ff:

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

So we're splitting the thread?

One line could discuss the multiplier effect and how it will help resolve the freefalling economy.  The other could examine 'irresonsible spending', commencing with a definition (or definitions) of irresponsible spending coupled with suitable and applicable examples.  Then we could follow with discussion (or maybe rigorous debate) on the various economic theories and political policies.  Oh wait!  We've split again!  Or have we.  Aww fxxk it, let's go bench racing.
