Title: where are you
Post by: Baloo on October 14, 2018, 01:55:02 PM
so where is that you all go duning ?
you will have to forgive my lack of knowledge of your country but I anit never been there

but that could well be changing, my pal married an American gal and he moved out there,
6 months on and they have a house with spare "apartments" they rent out, he keeps asking me to come over for a couple of months which I am probably going to do

so he's in Chattanooga  which is in Tennessee, so is that near any of your riding haunts ?

the dunes that will be going to are in waynoka oklahoma. called little sahara state park. smaller sand dunes but fun for only an 7.5 hr drive. chatanooga is prob 15 to 16 hrs se, more east than south. carlriddle would be the guy to answer that question as he lives in rhome georgia.  if you do let everyone know and maybe we'll make a trip to the dunes out of it!

926 miles more or less from Chattanooga to Waynoke/Little Sahara. Compared to whatever you have seen across the pond it is actually pretty large. It is basically in the center of the USA. Mapquest says 14 hours+/-.  It would be a very pleasant 2 day drive through some great scenery.YES,let us know if you head this way and we will definitely make a dune trip just for you. Remember our dune season is around April to maybe November with July/August being HOT.

If you should fly out there are several airports that someone would probably be able to pick you up at and shuttle you on in. Tulsa,Oklahoma/Oklahoma City,Oklahoma/Wichita,Ks are major cities within 2-4 hours of the dunes . There would be an empty buggy seat usually for you to fill.

It's not that bad if you keep moving. I went out several times this summer. Ya don't dare stop to take a break before returning to the air conditioned house though.

Baloo, Chattanooga is a great city.  I'm an hr south in Rome.  Lots of mudd trails right there, mtns with some crazy hill rock climbs.  The Oklahoma dunes normally takes me 12-13hr, but I split it up w a stop in Hot springs Arkansas.  As others say, fly in to close airport, always a seat.
