Title: Injured Fellow Duner Needs Support
Post by: fabr on June 04, 2015, 01:41:20 PM
Copied and pasted this from GD.com. I hope they don't mind.  Please send the ecard.

 Fellow Duners,

On Saturday May 30, 2015 I was hosting my daughter, her fiance Zach Stander and two of their close friends at my property in Waynoka, Oklahoma. During our mid-day dune run Zach Stander had a terrible accident while riding his quad. the rear end of Zach's quad kicked up on him at the top of a dune and caused him to flip forward into the sand with quad closely following him. We are not totally sure what happened on impact as no one saw it, but the result was two crushed thoracic vertebrae, several broken ribs, a cracked cervical vertebrae, a damaged spinal cord and various internal injuries.

Zach had surgery on Tuesday June 2 at Oklahoma University Medical Center in Oklahoma City and the Doctors did what they could to stabilize his back injury. Zach remains paralized from the chest down and it appears that this will be a permanent condition for him.

Our family would appreciate if you fellow duners would participate in a (FREE) e-card campaign in support of Zach while he is recovering in ICU at OU Med center. The hospital will deliver free cards to his bed at the website address below.

https://www.oumedicine.com/oumedicalcenter/patients-visitors/patient-e-cards/ou-medical-center-patient-e-card (https://www.oumedicine.com/oumedicalcenter/patients-visitors/patient-e-cards/ou-medical-center-patient-e-card)

Please use room number 2025 to ensure the cards will make it to him. Also, feel free to forward to anyone you think would be interested.

Thanks in advance for your support.

Doug Durham

I must say that I am quite disappointed in DTS membership today. Can it be that DTS members don't have even the 1 minute it takes to send the ecard the link provides? Very disappointed if this is the case..

Ya,I guess I am a bit grumpy today ,as usual.  ;D ;D .  WHat really pisses me off though is that out of the supposed 40,000+ members of GD.com very few even responded to the post yet a zillion replies were made to the BJ ,oops CaitlinJ topic. WTF are our priorities in America today??? Rant,rant,rant.................I was impressed this guy only asked for e cards instead of posting the gofundme moneysite and asking for  like most have done the last couple years.

Reality TV is #1.   The more unreal the more we like it. Same with news.

I sent my ecard. Still learning this new phone.

I caught your Caitlyn bj reference.

card sent and there is a young man that had surgery yesterday for a broken collar bone. his was/is broke in 4 spots from a freak accident at LS last weekend. my friend allen with a blue rail that has 6 exhaust pipes, took both  his boys and taylors friend. now taylors friend has gone before and they both ride dirt bikes. he is pretty good on the dirt bike on the sand but not as good or experienced of a rider as taylor. when they began jumping off a rolling dune top, the last jump, his rear swung out and he landed flat and flew off the bike and landed on his shoulder. the sand was wet and he did not hit the handle bars nor did the bike land on him just landed flat on his shoulder. this was sat morning and they had planned on leaving that afternoon. wound up spending the night in alva and made the tip home sun morning after they told allen if he has shortness of breathe or starts to puke blood the bone most likely shifted into his lung. allen said uh uh we're staying. the young man is fine as of this point and in some pain but will recover.

My guess is they have not cleaned out the member database in years?  Every now and again I will do that here, remove accounts older than two years inactive, etc.  Last time I checked their traffic it was falling, but most buggy / off road sites have done so after the recession.  Well, except RZR sites - that shit is like gold...... until the class action, consent decree, next big thing.

And you thought I was just the resident smart ass?

I'd bet the active membership @GD is under 50 people.

Gd is the freak show of buggy sites in many ways. About 25% of the members are level headed people I woud like around my camp fire, the other 75% are a bit out there to say the least. Most there would not be in my circle of friends. Remember LS this year when I was a bit not interested in talking buggy talk with the guy that pulled in next to your slot ds? Snap judgement made. Maybe I was wrong but he fit in that 75% of those I don't really have any desire to rub elbows with. Full of shit and glad to show it.

Overmoderated????
As far as I know there is only one rule.
"Dont be an ass"
That seems to work pretty good.

It seems like here we do not look down on others just because we have a differing opinion.

I was informed I was not very nice to him. I just am at a stage of life I don't have the desire to waste time on morons with more money than brains. That dude was the epitome of that,IMO. I guess it really bothers me now when a person tries to impress me with all they know and in the first sentence make it perfectly clear they know nothing and just bought everything they have. Arrogant, egotistical? Perhaps, but, welllllllll, too bad.
