Title: The Presidency
Post by: fabr on November 21, 2009, 10:39:56 AM
I don't understand it.  No matter WHAT party you voted for, WHO you voted for nor
what color you are do you not expect more dignity out of the first family than this?

If I expressed an opinion then I would be racist.  ::)

Well then,I'm a racist.  Tough shit. I'd say the same if it were Betsy Ross.

I suppose when you are the first lady you should really try to set an example of class and sophistication at events and public appearances, but should you be forced to get all dressed up every time you go somewhere? Should she wear a Gucci pant-suit to the beach?

It seems like much ado about nothing, much like the furore over Obama bowing in Japan. The right-leaning sections of the media blowing that up into such a big thing takes away from the importance of the real news that was going on over there...

And no Engineer, you can espouse a negative opinion on the President if you want, it would only be racist if you were actually racist. Having a persecutory attitude like that doesn't help anybody's situation.

The office deserves to be represented as dignified. I did not say that she needs to be dressed in attire suitable for a state visit but on the other hand what is wrong with showing some class even when going casual. I'll be the first to admit that i despise wearing anything approaching formal myself but I'll guarantee you this much-even I would be ashamed of my wife ,the first LADY,dressed that way if I were president. Sorry ,but yes, I DO expect more from my leaders.

eh?

You know RACE plus IST = RACIST Means you hate someone cause of thier race.

PRESIDENT plus IST = PRESIDENTIST menas yah hate some cause they are the pres!

I agree with Chris in that she should not have to be wearing crazy stuff ALL the time.

BUT I ALSO DO AGREE with Fabr that she could dress a little nicer than what looks like a $20.00 K-mart outfit she just rolled out of bed in. Just straightening up the shirt part would have helped in that photo.

If you wish to make a living of the "public", actor, singers, and politics, then everything you do is subject to public scrutiny.  Even a trip to Wally world for hair dye. LMAO  You MUST look the part.

I agree that those are great things to be corrected but the president and his family whether past or future will not be a part of those fixes. Sadly neither will congress as there will be no fix . What the President and the First Lady CAN do is at least represent us with dignity. That they CAN do something about.

Well misses mouse is not helping. She is representing our nation. Apparently she has no respect for that.

That book actually might be worth reading.  It's the parody.  The real one has a light blue sky and a slightly different title.

That book is satire of the real one - note the title Going Rouge, referencing the "pitbull wearing lipstick" jab at Palin.

I was wondering for a bit there if anyone was going to chime in about it not being the "real" one.

Hey Yummi, Do you get to vote against McCain?  I hear he may lose his senate race.  I hope he does.  So many Encumbents on both sides need to go.  It just blows my mind that no one in Washington seems to care a whit about the debt.  :(

You mean because they are making the dollar worthless, or because 2012 is approaching?  ;D

We were talking about the Mayans the other day and decided that they probably stopped the calender there cause they got lazy and they were 500 years into the future anyway.  ;)

Well I was gonna say its cause Oprah is quitting her show in 2011 so she can run for President in 2012 and once in she can just pay off the debt.  :P

But now the Mayan thing has me all worried about impending doom for some reason.... We need to all go to Glamis together first!

Adding to what Yummi was saying...

Clunkers: Taxpayers paid $24,000 per car

http://money.cnn.com/2009/10/28/autos/clunkers_analysis/index.htm (http://money.cnn.com/2009/10/28/autos/clunkers_analysis/index.htm)

I recently read a book by David Kay Johnston named Free Lunch: How the Wealthiest Americans Enrich Themselves at Government Expense (and Stick You with the Bill).

It pretty much highlights the corrupt political system and how corporate lobbyist are running the country. It is enough to make you want to publicly hang corrupt politicians.

publicly hang corrupt politicians.

I like the way you think! Doesn't matter which party they "represent", kill 'em all and get some people in there who actually give a damn about their constituents, rather than their paycheques and the backhanders they get from lobbyists and big business!
