« on: September 23, 2008, 02:04:27 PM »
so heres a thought. people who need to run short chains.   maybe a housing with a gm sbc timing set in it full of oil. then an input shaft that goes to the cycle output.  and two cv flanges on the other end??

I'm sorry but NFW.  Cam drives are almost always under a constant load in one direction. Therefore it takes a fairly weak chain or gears to drive the valve train. There's no oscillating loads. Consider the Jesel cam drives like I use .The small belt will drive 16 800# valve springs at 9000 rpm without blinking an eye.But that little 1" wide belt would break in an instant used for a rear drive. The belts are stronger than a pete jackson drive or any cam chain setup.

Now back to the topic!  If that chain idea is expanded upon though you have what masterfabr believes is the possible answer though.
