finally people are starting to call him out and let others know not to buy don's shit!!!!
-
It's about time someone other than me is willing to do so.
-
Sooner or later the truth about Don's Shitty transaxles was going to get out. He is nothing but a CROOK! :7 9: 6: 4:
-
That guy is a SOB! I am all fired up about him again. He has a very piss poor attitude towards his customers. One thing to argue with someone, but to start name calling like a little kid. What a moron. thumb down
-
For about 3 years I've been trying to get the word out about him. I've posted truth about him on several forums.
-
The concrete company I work for motto is: listen to problem, smile, then ask what will it take to make it right. They looked shocked and many times dont know what to say. Sometimes they dont want anything other than to point out an issue.
Business is built on repeat customers, if I get screwed your done, unless you got big hooters, then I'll let you do it twice. ;D
-
I just got off the phone with a supplier. I do over 300K a year with these SOB's. I ordered 2 door frames both exactly the same other than width. They are written up exactly the same on the delivery info. Yet it's somehow MY fault that one is made different than the other. How the H is it MY fault? Effin' distributors are becoming USELESS. I am daily buying more and more stuff direct ,unwillingly, due to the incompetence of distributors. It has been predicted that "middle men" will be a thing of the past and with the "I'm not responsible, it's YOUR fault" attitude they DESERVE to go tits up. Day before yesterday ,this same distributor said there were no 8 1/4" siding corners available. Never was ,never will be. Hmmmmm...............I have a box of them IN MY HANDS as I spoke item number and all. I was told NOPE,you can't have, not made. Less than 3 minutes online later, I had them ordered direct from the manufacturer and TODAY they showed up. . 2DAYS and the NEVER AVAILABLE items are in my hands. Stupid, lazy, arrogant effers are going to get less and less of my 300K . Eff them. The future is here and the lazy, arrogant, stupid effers can't see it.

don should send a package of anal eeze with every trans rebuild!! more people need to post pics and post up there experiances.
-
Couple more reports on The Samba about this "trans builder".
-
can you post a link?
-
you can.
-
I see the 2 replies in that link but didn't see any other posts about him in a search anyway well none that don't link back to this thread? the moderator over at azbaja is or must be a good friend of don as well cause he's the one that locked my post when I listed deano's trans up for sale and don tried to use it as advertising for his web site and shoot mine down until he was asked some q's and started back pedaling then they locked it and said we were just bashing him for asking honest q's!!
-
Those are the ones I was speaking of. trouble with trying to get the word out about this type of stuff is that that most people won't believe us.
-
It's truly sad, but sooner or later the word WILL get out about this jackass. :'( :'( :'(

To get a pic of the inside of donsbusbox" $3895 VW 091 SUPER PRO MAX VW Transaxle Transmission Sand Rail" .
F ollow this link to the advertised BS.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VW-091-SUPER-PRO-MAX-VW-Transaxle-Transmission-Sand-Rail-/180741625860?_trksid=p4340.m503&_trkparms=algo%3DRIC.CF%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUA%26otn%3D5%26pmod%3D180325565599%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D3724890297035314185 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/VW-091-SUPER-PRO-MAX-VW-Transaxle-Transmission-Sand-Rail-/180741625860?_trksid=p4340.m503&_trkparms=algo%3DRIC.CF%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUA%26otn%3D5%26pmod%3D180325565599%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D3724890297035314185)
It shows his "aluminum supercase" and it's "reinforced pinion bearing bore. Enlarge the 3rd pic from the left. It's not,IMO ,reinforced. It's a SLEEVED bore held in with screws. IMO, it is a repaired case due to a damaged bore. Also IMO, that does nothing but weaken the case just so donsbusbox can sell an otherwise useless piece of scrap. Then look at the crud inside the case. Don has repeatedly stated that he now has a soda blaster and soda blasts his cases . The thing should look like NEW inside and not like a solvent rinsed case. Apparently he just blasts the OUTSIDE after assembled to fool unsuspecting customers. Typical of Don. If that were not true WHY would he post pics of a dirty "Supercase" ????????? Read closely and see other places in the ad that are "misleading". He clearly states all Weddle gears. The things have USED STOCK R&P's in them. Let's seeeeeeeee................$3895 + $1000 for a Weddle R&P= MORE THAN A TW and nearly as much as the full tilt, all new components Weddle. All in all a very bad deal for any unsuspecting chumps like I was. Don is a snake. All there is to it.

What a friggin joke. kick
-
Not a funny one either.

OK,got the thing torn down to see the guts. Transman, anyone, know how to tell the diff in weddle sportsman gearsets and race sets? I haven't disassembled the shafts yet. What should I see/desire/use so far as bearings ? I Do see that while this thing is apart I need to address oiling tho. Need to put a couple of holes in the maincase to allow lube to flow readily from front section to the rear section. As it is it doesn't allow flow due to the 091 being inverted. The OEM oil holes are now topside. OOPS! Doesn't appear to have caused any issue but I KNOW it can't be good to hinder free flow of lube between the 2 areas. If I decide to buy a full Weddle 091 I'l need to have that mod done. Wonder what THAT will cost to have them do ? LOL!!!!!

Seems he's trying out new markets........

The Weddle racing gears will have a WP right next to the ratio on the gears, on the head of the pinion shaft and ring gear.
When you disassemble the mainshaft and pinion shaft, look at what bearings are under the idler gears. If they are not steel caged and are plastic caged, then Don reused the OEM junk bearings and NEEDS to be replaced. Look at the 3rd/4th gear shift hub, if you don't find a WP mark on it. When that needs to be replaced too. Make sure you dissassemble and inspect the double taper bearing in the pinion shaft. I've got a $100 bill that says he reused that bearing, it's full of sludge and it's NOT in very good shape. What does the reverse gear look like? Did don reuse the OEM gear?
These are just a few things to look for, there's alot more. 8) 8) 8)

The ratios are correct so I assume they are weddle gears. Haven't looked for any marks but doesn't weddle make a race set and a sportsman grade set?
The needle bearing in the maincase is bad. The needles have apparently hammered themselves against the end of the steel cage . There is a raised area there anyway on the race and it does not turn. I'll try to get pics.
Bearings in general. I will check all out. What's supposed to be superior? German made or???????
Reverse gear.......................................... LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl
It's a POS VW,beat to hell. When buying the weddle reverse gear, does it come as a set including idler. Is it just the reverse gear that breaks or it and the idler?
-
The racing gears will have a WP on the gear next to the ratio. If you don't see that WP then the gears are not Weddle racing gears. 8) 8) 8)
-
Got any answers to the other questions?
Again does weddle make 2 grades of gears or just"race" gearsets?
-
as I understand it, the sportsman gear sets are just different gear options with stock strength and maybe not even that, where, the wp are the racing gears made out of 9kseries chromoly. not an expert though. I can't believe not having the 2 new 5/8" holes in the now bottom of the main case didn't starve it for oil :o !! you got lucky, everyone I have read up on flipping the trans over has re-drilled 5/8" holes in the now bottom to replace factory holes. the pics should be interesting to see just how don did this one.
-
No oil starvation as I filled case to the 1/2 way point of the cv flanges and enough lube will flow between the 2 areas ,well actually 3 with the adapter included. NOT like I like it to be at all tho. There will be holes now .

that explains it then! ;D

Weddle does make the cheaper sportman (economy) gears, but they are not any stronger than OEM gears. I don't know if they have any letter markings on them or not. I've never seen one in person. 8) 8) 8)
-
Bearing wise you want German bearings on both ends of the mainshaft, pinion shaft, reverse jackshaft and on the diff. NO CHINESE! Weddle steel cage needle bearings under the 1st-4th idler gears. 8) 8) 8)
-
Thanks for the weddle info. As to the German only bearing thing. I agree that chinese are suspect at best and complete trash likely according to everything I have seen. But why not others made by reputable manufacturers? The 091 bearings aren't bastard sizing are they? Special/non standard availability?
-
Reverse gear that can be up graded to the Weddle racing is the 15 tooth gear that mates to the 40 tooth 1st/2nd slider. That gear costs $45. That gear slides on the reverse jack shaft. 8) 8) 8)

As far as I know nobody else makes these bearings. All I will use in the transaxles that I build are the German/Weddle bearings and have had no problems that way. IMO it makes no sense reinventing the wheel. 8) 8) 8)

I got some Sarcasm funny Sarcasm pics later. Gotta run for now.
-
Notice anything missing?????? Donsbusbox at it's finest. These 2 pics are from immediately after removing the nosecone . It clearly shows the absence of the crescent key that prevents the bearing from spinning in the case. The other pic shows the absence of the 2 springs and bracket that centers the shift bar. thumb down thumb down thumb down thumb down. Then there's the completely fubar reverse gear he put back in it. Pic is poor. I'll put up a better one.
-
The relay SHOULD look like this.
-
crescent key properly placed.BTW,last 2 pics are from the LongEnterprises 091 Rebuild CD.
-
can't say I'm surprised and that rev gear looks as bad as the one transman pulled out of another don's special all out built 091's! bs1 I hope people read up on him before giving him there money cause this goes beyond shady!!!!
-
What I've seen in these pics from Don's Shit Box, so far doesn't surprise me one bit. $60 worth of parts so far in those pics. eyes eyes
Any more pics master?
-
It does have weddle race 1-4. Plastic races on everything but pinion bearings. Gonna get a set of new bearings, snap rings ,seals , missing pieces, aluminum intermediate ,weddle reverse and might just as well get a weddle race r&p while it's apart.
-
Suck to break it 1st day at Glamis huh?? I was curious what kinda $$$ difference was between good and just ok and POS.
-
$3200 minus core = approx $2600 for a donsjunk or $5K ish for an ALL NEW COMPONENTS but for the bellhousing Weddle. Add the Weddle r&p to the 2600 and you got $3600 vs $5K. Add in the cost of replacing junk and missing components ,and I have a very expensive POS. Well over $4K. Another $1K and I'd have had a HIGH QUALITY 091 with NO issues.
-
how soon you needing that r&p?
-
week
-
Prob only reason its lasted is lack of torque from Busa. Hell til just recently you couldnt even use reverse w/o gettin out to manual shift. As you now are gettin it dialed in, trans would prob let go soon.
Hows the coupler look? Any wear stress?
-
So far ,coupler has had no issues after changing from PU spider to rubber Giubo. None of the internals show any signs of wear or stress,so far.
-
week
sorry but no way i can make that with all I have to get done in the next 2 weeks, building 2 more front end kits right now.

and your design has seen more testing than most out there with real beatings so that's awesome!!

I ran the shit out of it pretty much. 8) That's what real testing is. I especially like the whoops. ;D ;D ;D ;D Sorry,Fast,I was very unkind a couple of times passing you in the whoops. thumb down I was a bad,bad boy. eyes I don't know what comes over me at times! ??? well transman will have to post pics up soon but he's got another one of don't $3400 specials in his shop with don's custom build oozing out of it! rofl rofl rofl the owner wasn't happy to see the shit build he paid $3400 for!! kick don

when the owner called don and told him what he now knows don told him he was full of shit and trans too cause his box is good for 300 hp and 300 ft lbs tq bs1 as is with stock r&p and used bearings with one used bearing that had gotten so hot it actually discolored!!!
-
Oh it might be good for 300 HP and 300 Ft-lbs of torque.
Just not all at once...... :-X
Seems like this Don guy needs a long walk off a short pier drowning
-
Don is just a dishonest person with an undeserved good reputation. Some people have all the luck. thumb down thumb down
