Post by: fabr on November 10, 2009, 01:02:21 PM
Been looking for a while and this seems like the best option.

The gear indicator would be handy.  I was planning on getting a speedo healer but to tell you the truth we're just using the GPS for the speedo.  It is kinda funny when new people drive the buggy and think they're going as fast as the speedo says.  It seems to read about 100mph when the GPS says ~55mph.

Find any good vendors for the gear indicator yet?

That's good to hear. Most of what I have read has been positive.

Fabr,

Did you ever buy the gear indicator?  From what I read on their website it only reads when the clutch is out?  That's not gonna work to well for finding frist gear?

It works all the time the key is on. Clutch in or out. It is an unreliable POS tho. About 1/2 the time it indicates wrong gear. Haven't hooked up the speedo healer yet.

Hell I cant even get mine to work.. Just bout givin up on a readout to keep me from looking for that mysterious 7th gear!

Fabr- Have you checked your GPS sensor by chance? When they get dirty (or go bad) they like to jump around with the Ohm reading. Can wreak havoc on the ECU staying on the correct ignition map if you dont have the timing tables unified. Hard to nail down a tune when it wigs out. I noticed mine indicating the wrong gears and jumping around in the Bazzaz software. Somthin ya may wanna look into?

Hi just wondered Fabr if you have fitted your speedo healer yet i am hoping to get one also very soon and just saw this thread.

Also i will be running a  Acumen gear indicator light it works out RPM, road speed to work out the gear and then you teach it the gears.

Thanks

Rob,

I use both the GIPRO and the Speedo Healer, both are from HealTech.  The Speedo Healer works great!  As for the GIPRO gear indicator with ATRE, it sometimes gets fooled as to what gear your in, but for the most part it works very well.   ;)

I agree with Grimm on the indicator. About 25% of the time it has no idea the difference in first and second. All other gears seem to be correct. I haven't done the speedo healer yet..

Got mine working!! I have been chasing a wiring gremlin for the last year on this car. I finally found it and everything has been starting to come together on the tuning. I had a bad ground in the wiring harness where Suzuki crimps ALL the grounds together by the ECU plugs. Cleaned them up and soldered and problems solved. Looking at another harness I have on the bench (very low miles), its ground crimp wasn't worth a shit either.  thumb down

Just a heads up

Anyway, the GIpro has been rock-solid for me. Been thrashing through the gears the last couple days and hasn't jumped yet.
I happy guy now.
