I assume what I'm being told is to shorten the name to less than 8 characters so the software will not alter it and then it should be able to find the file. I know it's on the USB stick but since the name is now different it's not found by the USb device.

the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a
loyalty to the American people."

Yes shorten the name to less then 8 and be sure to end the 8 with .txt you can have 8 characters and then the .txt

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

OK,next problem was that linear moves were correct but at the first circular move the post processor had the thing running to Y limit and E-stopping. Well with much thinking(damn! that hurts too! thumb down) I came to the conclusion it had to be something set wrong in the AlibreCAM post processor for the Fadal. Yep,it was and after 3 days I now seem to be able to successfully cut...............................................................................................air. rofl rofl  Now to figure out how to position part under the spindle in the right location and I'm ready to cut something. Maybe. eyes ;D ;D

Actually Mecsoft posted a reply to my problem after I had come to the conclusion it was a setting in AC. I gotta admit it would have been nicer if they had answered earlier but in their defense they are closed weekends. They were spot on on the issue and it's fix though.

This thread is worthless without..........  :P

Actually, I want to see some pics of the giant 4'th axis..........
Just for you. It's not huge but it is 12 7/8" diameter. Came with machin. It's ,on this machine,just an indexer-might be full fourth capable but there's not much info on them. I did buy the Fadal full fourth 6" unit tho for all the small shafts I hope to be needing to make.Yeah ,might jast as well have an indexer,I know. I do have a possibility to do some light fourth contour stuff. LOL!!!!!! I need to get 3 D figured out first!  ;D ;D  Pics of all.

Looks like decent unit. I didn't know Buck made indexers, but if it's anything like their chucks it should be a good unit.

I guess Ford thought so. There were apparently quite a few of these machines with the Buck on it sold. I'll keep it just in case I ever need one that big. I was told it was used as just an indexer using M functions.

I was told it was used as just an indexer using M functions.

Hopefully you have a 4th axis card in the controller. That will make things much simpler. Then the M code is for the brake release and an A axis call out will control the movement.

If you don't have the 4th card you will need a stand alone controller for it that you programm. Then you would use M codes to signal it to move. Good for positioning, not so good for actual interpolated cuts.

//// High jack mode on////

Here are a bunch of billet pieces getting ready to be turned into differentials.

The work is being done by Weismann. Should be a really interesting build.
