Title: Best Tire for a Hayabusa
Post by: CrazyFastFab on February 19, 2013, 09:51:48 PM
So, I read all of these post and can't make up my mind as to which tire to buy.  I will be running a stock Hayabusa.  Seems like the 1100 paddles would work or should I go with the 1300.  What would you recommend?

Has anyone tired these 1450 Desert Trak Sand Tires or similar?  Seems like this type of tire would be good for me because I only make it to the dunes once or twice a year.

+1 to what Fabr speeks.  Also, what wheels and what brand of tire.  Not a lot of choice on 11's, but there are some serious weight diff in brands.  I know Dsrace had STU 1300 on 12 wide wheels with his busa 2 seat car.  Not real happy with how slowly it spun them up.  He sold the tires.

for the tire i would say light weight wheel like the thin douglas or cms ( custom metal spinning), 1100's aren't bad but if you have the money get the 1300 sand tires unlimited or a 12" rim with stu 26 blaster

My car is somehow going to look allot like DS's car.  Should be some where around 1100 lbs but that is what everbody claims.  I have a tendency to make thing heavy.  I don't want to do the turbo.  Stock engine for now anyway.

Yes I need to find wheels and tires for this thing.  It will have 5x205 bolt pattern which seems to limit the wheels I can choose but I except to be able to get the 3" offset rims more if I can them.

The reason I ask you guys is I don't have the funds to buy things twice.

Anybody run those paddles that have the center ridge so you can also drive on hard pack?

Thanks,

So this would be the tire?

Is that a good deal?

I've wondered about the desert trac type tires myself. Personally don't know of any reason why they wouldn't work OK tho.enemy,I think used the v1100's quite well on a similiar car. has turbo also. IMO,most cars are actually over tired..

I'm running those sand viper 1100 with zx12.  Same tire as enemy, and I think DS went too.  If you got enough torque bigger tires are good, but bike motors dont make torque.  Dont bog it down.  Sandparts.com will make you a good deal on tires/wheels.

Enemy been abusing the crap out of those 1100 chinese paddles for 3-4 yrs.  He spins them pretty damn quik and still gets plenty of traction.  And videos to prove.  LMAO LMAO (stupid wing trunk)

tire speed is all important in the sand or mud.

And the have been the best cheap POS's I could ever have the pleasure of destroying! A tad on the heavy side compared to an STU, but bang for the buck is pretty damn good. At least two or three trips left in them I think. (fingers crossed)
If you have low weight and plenty of torque on the low end (the Busa does) and the gearing to spin them up quick, I think you would be much happier with an 1100 vs a 1300 IMO. Let them dig more, with high wheel speed that's much better forward traction.

ah enemy is like 5 to 6 years now I think  ??? both enemy and carl get enough traction to pull a wheelie with the 1100 vipers.  yes I did buy a pair to try for the weight of the tire. now they are not as light as the 1300 stu but half the price. just figured i would give them a try since i know the traction i got with the 1300's. if i was you i would just used the 1100's since you say you won't use them much unless you want to spend the money on good stu 1300's.

Just ignore that. It just means there is no limit. Just make sure your pics are not oversize.

Dont know what the file size limit is, but if you resize to a 640 or 1080 picture it should upload just fine.

Buying the rims and tires.  I am hoping to get the rear tires the same size (street and paddles).  Can anyone tell me how tall a 1100 paddle on a 10" rim would be with a about 5 psi?  Want to buy the street tire so it is the same height and I don't have to change the gearing with the tire changes.

right at 28", plus paddle

IMO,you will not want the same size paddles as street tires. You will likely find that you will be too low geared on the street with dune gearing. IMO,you want a taller tire for the street.   BTDT.

I have never balanced mine.  That said I have never run the desert at hi speed either.  In the sand I can not see the need.

I balance all tires other than lawnmowers.
