Oxygen sensor?
« on: July 25, 2011, 06:07:39 AM »
I've got an 06 r6, and they use a big old nasty cat converter that also is a 2 into 1.  I will do away with cat and question is should I keep the o2 sensor.  Will also be running power commander so I could delete sensor.

Will also be looking for something in the silencer tip, any reccomendations?

My guess is that you will want to keep the O2 sensor.

Is it before or after the cat?  Usually if they're before you keep them and if they're after you can delete them.

Hmmm  In the middle of the cat I don't know what to tell you..........

Nice clean bike !

Boy, does that square box right in the middle of the exhaust path look like it would just kill performance or what.

Sorry not the "actual" bike, just pic from internet.  Mine looks just like except the square front tire.  :o  Looks like if you run w/o cat and w/o O2 sensor you must use power commander to keep from haveing light on.   No problem there, going to anyway.  That cat weighs 10lb, is restrictive as hell, open it up add more intake air(better filter) and PCIII gains 8hp.  Now Im reading where guys are running PC V with auto tune, to adjust fuel/air for ea gear, ea injector on the fly.   drowning drowning drowning

Correct, a wide band that comes with auto tune.  I think I'll get the midpipe with the bung for O2.  If I dont need it I can always use a bolt.  ;D

I've never tuned a bike before so this thread got me thinking.
How do most bikes' factory ecu work? Do an open loop fuel map, wait on coolant temp, then switch to closed loop and read the O2 or is it something different? I know it's not that crude, but I think you get the idea......
