Ya boost is from air flow (from the turbine on the compressor side) but it takes the exhaust coming out at thousand degrees or better into the exhaust impeller to make the turbine spin fast enough to make that boost.  Kind of look at it like hot air expanding into a small area.  The hotter it is the more it expands.  So the faster it moves.

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

Looks like I will need to do some research before I ask questions. I did not know about all of these variables. I always thought boost was from airflow alone. I did not realize heat played that much of a roll but it does make sense.
That's why  we ask questions ------so we can help. We don't do it for the "eff with you "factor. ;D ;D

Now for my 2 cents on the heat thing. Yes there is heat as a natural byproduct of the additional fuel being introiduced under load but it's really the additional VOLUME of exhaust gasses as opposed to the engine speed (or normally aspirated airflow needs at any given rpm)that spools the turbo. A turbo would work with no heat at all other than heat generated by air in the compressor side if there was a large supply of pressurized cool air to spool the turbo. In other words it's the back pressure that spools up a turbo.

Another thing-------------------your question about WHEN it should show boost and how much is closely related to what we just spoke of. 8000 rpm no or light load means low boost. 3000 rpm and high engine load and maybe a bunch of boost. SOooooooo as I was getting at earlier is that there is no real answer to your question. All we can really do is give you info that will allow you to discover what your problem is or IF you have a problem.

You mean gas flow or pulses, right?
