If you go to that link I posted the last two bottom charts are:

The first one is JUST the tranny ratios themselves. Transmission Gear Teeth (Ratios)
The second one is the tranny AND the primary reduction drop. Transmission Overall Ratios

EDIT: I stand corrected. The overall drop includes the chain and sprockets to the rear wheel as well as the primary reduction!!

And this is where I pipe up again with the stock Busa putting out 425FTLB's of torque in first gear.

I should have my buddy with a 4.3 and a bus box chime in and tell you what 220FTLB's of torque will do to one.............

And since a typical buggy runs a larger rear sprocket, wouldn't that number be even higher.

All 091's are CREATED equal. That is NOT to say all 091's are equal though. Many upgrades available.

;D ;D We're talking about INPUT torque to an auxiliary trans.  Adding in the sprocket ratios would be incorrect.

Well, actually, you do have to account for any ratio change between the output shaft and the aux gearbox.

In this case there would be no set of sprockets and chain. If you're talking about a chain driven box then yes, you are correct.

There are no busas ,stock, putting out 425#' torque in first gear. 99#' stock peak tq @7000rpm times first gear ratio of 2.615 = 258#' at an output shaft rpm of2676 rpm.

Yup ^^^^^^

I was using the facotory spec of 102FTLB's X 1.596 primary X 2.615 first = 425.7

Now slap your turbo on it and watch things get really out of control.........

From My experience with bus box's, if you left the Busa in 4th gear and shifted the bus box you would have a viable combo.

Anything with over 200FTLB's of torque will kill a bus box if you start to beat on it. If you drive really conservatively then maybe 250FTLB's.

You DO NOT add in or multiply the primary reduction in the calculation since it is already accounted for in the dyno data.

A turbo busa with approx 160#' would put it into the range of what you are talking about. Even though it is pretty unlikely that you will see those torque numbers in first gear due to the engine not being loaded and therefore will make little to no boost. Likely be 3rd gear before that happens. In other words there will not be many first gear big boost burnouts or launches .3rd gear is 1.526 times 160#' = 244#'. Back to survivable range.

Two things.

First of when I have seen HP and Torque numbers its ALWAYS off the crank. I have not seen anything for the Hayabusa that suggests otherwise. Can you cite where this says its after the reduction and not before?

Second.

Although the motor WILL be making bucco torque in the low gears the speed is still kinda low on the output shaft at this point.

So unless you have perfect traction this will be bled off a good bit.

Its not like a BBC where its torque is being made off the crank at 5000 rpm or more.
Your mission isn't to dive feet first into hell, but to make sure its crowded when you get there.
