Need ideas on a simple shifter design
« on: November 23, 2009, 05:06:42 PM »
I'm using a F-N-R box from a Polaris ATV. I'm looking for a simple design with about 1 3/4 travel for a push-pull cable. I also need a positive lock in forward and reverse because the box has no detents.
Any pics would be appreciated.

How 'bout a spring loaded lever...loaded in foward and a notch to hold it in reverse.

Take a look at the shifter on an old Snapper Comet lawnmower, or maybe modify a parking brake lever from a car.

speed way motors has just the part you looking for. enemy runs one on his jeffco box and it has a spring loaded lock.

it's not so cheap but does work well.

Thanks Guys !! The link that Dsrace gave me is exactly what I need !! The nice clear picture on their web site will also help me make one . ;)
I just have to figure out how the spring loaded pin works though. Do you think they will send me an exploded view if I ask nicely ?  ;D
