SCORE!!!!

so... since i do computers for a living, my buddy brought his computer into the shop to get fixed.  I told him i would take it home and do it for free rather than charging 2hrs labor.  so i take it home and fix it for him, and when he comes to pick it up he brings along this battery i have wanted to buy from him for awhile.  what i knew about it was it is a dry cell.  he bought it for his car stereo and shortly after got rid of his stereo and this battery has sat in his garage.  he wanted 100$ for it previously.  so he sets the battery down and says "here you can have this"   fooking sweet!!!!  its a stinger electronics sp800 

my free battery!!!!

Killer deal. One question though,was the battery charged fully before mothballing it? Also,what is the state of charge now?

no clue.. thats something im aware of.. it might be screwed. but it was free.. i was fixing his computer for free anyways. :D

so the battery had 6volts charge to it..    i put it on the battery charger all day yesterday on 35amp fast charge, then i put it on 2amp trickle over night..  it had 11volts this morning, but holding the test on it, it will slowly count down the volts..  also it wont power anything other than an led flashlight.. whats the deal? battery shot?

Sounds like it.

I dunno if putting it on a 35 amp charger all day was the best idea either.

If I have a battery in question I like to ease them back up slowly. 2 or 6 amps maybe.

But maybe someone here know which is better?

Just one time discharging will cut a battery life in 1/2. Leaving it in a state of discharge is a death knoll.

just wasnt sure if i your supposed to use something other than regular charger for these dry cells or different procedure.

There are different charging procedures as such  but IMO that battery is a goner. No battery will survive extended discharged times.
