Unless your saying heat the fitting itself up, and that it's not actually welded but "brazed", but he would have to have someone braze them to more tube, then crimp to more hose, correct?

those crimped collars will come off with a cut off wheel and some patience.  New collars would have to be sourced to crimp on the new hose.

For him just braze in a modified hose barb. It will work just fine. There's not much pressure in an oil cooler.

YES ,I have done it. Braided lines look cool and such but in all the years I raced I had more failures/leaks/problems with AN fittings by far compared to the cheapo hose barbs and such.IF regular disassembly is needed I always use braided and AN fittings. For VDC he needs cheap and effective.

I've never had a problem with my fittings or lines. I know it's overkill, but I run the 3000 psi hydraulic lines for my rails, and I like the 45/90 swivel elbows to attach them to the cooler and the motor.....

I meant I use AN fittings and braided  not 3000 PSI hydraulic stuff. Nothing wrong with it ,it's just a bit stiff for my liking tho.

Well that's a question that only can be answered with oil temp.Do you have a way to check it?

Is the cooler mounted where it will get direct airflow?

On your budget run it and forget it.
