Whata think about this for gauges?
« on: September 02, 2009, 05:16:53 PM »
I was surfing through the autometer gauge website and found this. Wonder if you could use this on the buggy?

I HATE digital guages. I'll NEVER use them again unless nothing else is available for just that reason. Dials are best.

Do you have any pics of your dash? What are people using for gauges, mechanical or electrical gauges?

ya know I could have swore I read these guages were water proof when I ordered them but after getting caught in the rain and then seeing the water pool up in side the guage I just don't believe them! they do still work so I guess water tight they aren't but maybe water resistant. spec mine are indigo blue. almost too bright at night.
dunebound did you get the red ones or are they white ( the lights )?

If you want to be sure your gauges are waterproof, get liquid damped units. Marine versions, preferably.

Blue light is supposed to be worst for your night vision. Pilots tend to use red light torches to read maps at night.

It is probably specific to the person using the gauges as far as what colors are most readable. I also do not like digital.
