Title: Chili Bowl 2023
Post by: BrianN on December 30, 2022, 11:21:34 AM
I got 4 tickets to the Chili Bowl again, this year!! Thanks to my brother and nephew. And to make it even better, I get to watch Rico Abreau race on Wednesday. Every once in awhile, life is good.

The rush of energy that hits you in that building, the second the first car lights up, is unforgettable. At least to me, it is. I have driven mini sprints and a 410 sprint car, but never a midget. I can only imagine the adrenaline that would cause!! I get to take my grandson to his first midget race. Good times.

It was awesome,as expected. Saw a wreck that I NEVER want to see again, though. Driver was ejected from his car, onto the track. But enough about that. Got to see Rico Abreau pull off his unbelievable end of race, all out, passes to win the feature. Midgets pulling wheelies out of corners. A 14 year old kid almost won the feature! I am more amazed every time I see those guys and gals wheel them lightweight, high horsepower cars, wheel to wheel, as fast as they do. I kind of compare it to: in big cars, you have a split second to make a decision, but in these cars, in a split second, 4 things have already happened. My grandson had a good time. He goes to a lot of sprintcar, modified, and late model races with my daughter. The more we watched, the more fired up he got. Even though he was rooting for a different driver, he was yelling for Rico at the end!!!
