You may have the wire speed going a little to fast. Are you getting good heat penatration? If not, you may need a little more heat with that slower wire speed. Grap a junk piece of metal that is the same thickness and don't be afraid to play around with the welder to get it set for you. Everybody sets their welder a little bit differernt to suit them. 8) 8) 8)

If your welder is spitting a lot,cut down on his chewing tobacco allowance.

I have cut my wire speed and heat almost in half.  Good penetration, and I have much better control over puddle and weld results.  This is for buggy tubing, thicker plate still turning heat up and adjust wire to get a steady crackle.  And there is no sub for a cleaning of the two surfaces, sanding with flap wheel is what I like.
You can keep your CHANGE, I'd like to keep my DOLLAR.

one thing to look at as well is what type of wire do you have! the made in china wire is cheap but produces more splatter with a dirtier weld or atleast from what I tried to use and threw away! I went and bought some made in usa wire and wallah very little splatter at same settings! that hobart brand is kinda ok in a pinch but dirtier than a good brand and I tried that anchor brand as well same results as hobart but harbor freight wire , JUNK!  other than that you will get some splatter with a mig but adjust you setting according to your physical speed my help as stated above.

Use ESAB Lincoln or Harris wire, I prefer ESAB or Lincoln. Instead of just looking at your weld, listen to it, Using a piece of scrap look away from you weld or even close your eyes a second, should sound exactly like bacon frying. if not you settings are wrong. Most times people set wire speed to high for the heat they are running. Also check with your gas supplier, ask what shield gas mixes they have, I find that mixes run better.
Just food for thought, hope this helps
Doug

I had a similar problem, turns out I was using too many amps for the size of wire I was using.

Here's a link for a baseline set-up. You should be able to verify that you are in the ballpark.

Something else to consider......are you using straight C02? That will cause more splatter than 75/25.
