Back on  subject,I love my Dmax. So far,3 of them and I never had to get a wrench out. The stupid fooking DEF system on the '11 is a different story though. I hear the DEF will be gone soon tho. Hope so,I need a new truck........................

My experience with DPF destroyed my love affair with the diesels.  Perfectly good execution and somebody has to go screw it all up lowering mileage, power and reliability in the process.

My experience is the DEF pump fails or the NOX sensor dies.

My experience was stuck on the side of the road twice.  Clogged DPF.  My concurrent half of the same events was looking at the "warranty invoice" each time over $2,100.00.  Not so much.  Offed it 1,000 miles over warranty.

You should have had symptoms long before the filter plugged.

You should have had symptoms long before the filter plugged.

The symptom was it stopped.  Nothing else.  This was before the Ura deal.  the Urea seems like a PITA.  Sounds like they will be stopping that?

A 98 with no work?  That is a good run.  Set of injectors at the end of 17 years?  I could live with that.

FORD huh  bs1 kick kick nono nono rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl   that's the only reason it lasted 17 years w/o wrenching on it lol   yummi i did not install a new set of injectors i just changed the o rings on them they actually passed a buzz test and have had no power issues just a  few little funny issues that only I would notice lol so i bet this takes care of them. i have been impressed with the truck thus far  with everything other than the mpg's when towing my th'er but then i again i set the cruise at 75mph. i have never thought 18 mpg unloaded for a dually is bad imo. i did have a clutch put in it when i bought it because i didn't know the po's driving habbits and didn't want to get two states out and have it give up. at 81k it still had over a 1/4 of it's life left but i felt $1600 was worth the peace of mind and they changed the oil in the trans tranfer and front and rear diff's, i suppose i'll put u joints in it this summer to be safe too. the po did have some warranty work done at ford but they fell short or changed stuff that wasn't the problem lol

It should have been way,way down on power for quite a while.

Yes, and it should have gone into regen mode.  It should have gone into limp mode.  Heck even a courtesy dash light would have been a nice touch.  It should have done a whole bunch of stuff.

What it did was die.  Like Grandma, and my favorite gold fish in the fourth grade, but granny did not expire on the freeway in the fast lane and the gold fish could be replaced with just one ping pong ball placed into a dish from some dude with serious dental challenges.  Holy run on sentence.

You know it is bad when you grammar cop yourself.

Yummi, the point is that DPF's do not just suddenly plug and cause an engine to die. Regardless, the dealer "fixed" you plugged DPF under warranty and the dealer got warranty paid to do it. I'm betting it was not the DPF but something much cheaper/simpler/paid dealer less. Plenty of that crap goes on.  I had a similar situation with one of my Isuzu delivery trucks just out of warranty. Over 2500 bux of exhaust components later I found a missing vacumn port cap when it came back running like shit.Let's see,25 cents or 2500.00 bux from OEM.Wonder what incentive the dealer had to find the missing cap?

not just an incentive thing it was prob more likely the new guys got put on it lol the old timers with the actuall experience at the dealers take all the easy good paying jobs and push all the rest on the newbies who are fresh out of school this is what makes those trips to the dealership such a joke.  i can see them doing as you said but bottom line they are just there to get you out of warranty!

I did quit a bit of reading about orings and gaskets that were used pre low sulphur diesel.  Many needed the lube of the sulphur to keep them from drying out.  No diff than e85 in standard gas setup.  Might be fine, may last for yrs, may leak tomm.

Hey at least you stayed away from gas station burritos, Dunebound woulda thought there were aftershocks!   rofl rofl rofl

rofl i didn't see that dunebound is worse than me  rofl rofl
