Coolant tube

What is everyone using, and where are you getting your stuff?  for making the radiator hoses/ lines for bike engines? i seem to be having trouble finding anything.

I ran .065 tubing and used short pieces of silicone hose to join at the connections

6' lengths of 6061 and 4043 are ,I think that's where I got my last ,available from MSC and such places.

6061 is aluminum... whats 4043?

Aluminum. really the best choice would be 5053 for best corrosion resistance. I don't know if they carry it but Shapiro Supply in St. Louis Missouri will have I'm pretty sure. They will UPS 6' and shorter.

I see all they offer is .035 wall. 5052 is pretty tough/mallable/work hardening resistant  stuff but does anyone have an opinion on it being thick enough or not? IMO it's plenty thick enough but will it be durable? I'm with punkur in that I'd prefer .060+.

Of course these guys have pretty cheap SS mandrel bends and straight tube.

engine blocks are iron, so whats wrong with using steel tube for coolant lines?

actually whats wrong with using just rubber lines?

for purposes of getting it running.. i have pretty much everything bought but coolant lines.. so if steel or copper will work, i would prefer to use that as opposed to buying aluminum as of right now.

I used copper. Connected with rad hose parts. Has worked for 5 years and running.  Had sandblasted and powder coated with the chassis.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that you should never use copper upstream of aluminium (such as cylinder heads) because there is a strong possibility of the copper leaching into the electrolyte and plating out on the aluminium,  setting up a severe galvanic couple.
