I know these things are the most reliable piston pin retention there is but they SUCK! I've installed hundreds and hundreds. Hated each and every one of them. THEN comes removing the little mother e****s !! They are easy as can be to install/remove from a regular shallow bore but the irregular area around a piston pin added to the fricken depth it sits makes the things damn near impossible to work with. OK,bitch session over................... ;D ;D
Here's a few pics of the buried place the spirolox lives in and the JE 14:1 pistons hung on Oliver 6" stroker rods. MY ring end gap grinder/filer took a shit after 20 years,of course, now that I'm just needing to do another set or 2. Oh well, new one should be here Tuesday.
Finally, there's a pic of how disappointing Clevite special race bearings come looking like. It is how they are supposed to look though. They don't put the tin coating on them.

And then they go "sproing" and disappear somewhere in the shop behind you..........
-
Well, after doing several hundred that doesn't happen now but, yes , it happens. And there is always exactly the right number sent with the pistons without a single spare.

One of them love hate relationships.

Havn't done rings in years and that was 2-smoke stuff. But looks like the C-clips one the end of 930 axle, just a bit bigger. Still got one of those little clips hiding back here somewhere. Worse than find waldo. bs1

Not cussing the oil ring support rail,it's the fricken piston pin spirolox that are the sh*ts!

I'm not very manly. I always read instructions first.
