Title: Looky what I found
Post by: Carlriddle on July 21, 2011, 09:29:02 AM
This has been in the works for a week or so, but it has finially made its way home.  Haven't had too much interest in the buggy, so its time for some upgrades.  I must admit this was the best way to buy an engine, 90% complete still in wrecked bike.
Picked up an 06 yamaha r6, fully tuned version.  This thing has a wrap sheet and 2 police reports from it being stolen twice.  1st time it had vin## changed to some Kawa ## recoverd after 3 yrs.
This will get me into a fuel inj engine and puts out about 130hp, about 45 more than the zx600.  Next week should be fun!!

Well a slow start, but I finally got the bike stripped and the zx out of the buggy.  Trying to figure out how I'm going to make the mounts work/and look good too.  Was able to move engine forward about 4" for maore chain and move seat back a couple inches for some more leg room.  I can use leg room.
More later had to get more tube.

Sorry no R1.  Running outta time to keep looking.  But if I get bored  ;D I found a turbo kit that makes 168 rear wheel hp at 8psi outta this r6.

Been busy picking up some parts and running about 20 new oulets in my basement.  No more drop cords.

But trying to workout new fuel tank.  Current round tube tank wont work with fuel inj.  Wanting to mount the bike fuel pump unit in bottom of a tank, need about 5" circle.  Was looking for one with a sump are to mount pump.  But the sump area is too small for pump.  Are you guys just mounting in bottom of a flat bottom tank?

Pics tonight, new gauges should be there today.

my 1gallon tank would work perfect..  you can use your current tube tank and run the hose to the inlet of my pump mounted 1gallon tank..

Ain't that the truth! I've just spent 2- 8 hour days fabbing up a shifter for my mid engine 091 thing.Nothing made would work due to chassis interference.  thumb down  eyes

Hell I spent two hrs trying to get motor back out after tacking all up.  Took stator cover off, still needed 1/2".  Had to lift up rotate 90*, lift out.  Was so pissed forgot pics.  drowning   bs1  drowning

Got gauge cluster, as one on bike went missing when 1/2 of handlebars were ripped off.  Man this thing is tiny, should look good in new dash I'm drawing up.  Hope i get that far.  rofl  Going to house all the electrical goodies up front in a little hood box behind dash.

Finally got some more parts and found some time.  Had to make rear cross bar bolt in so engine would fit in/out.  All welded and some black paint cause this thing might not get to paint before trip.  With motor in I can work on shifter, and the wiring harness.  The aluminum spacers are the slick, stole that from someone???

Anyone else going to LS got more crap to do than this?  drowning drowning drowning

They both have their pluses and minuses IMO. I prefer FI especially the OBD but not much wrong with the simplicity of carbs if 20 miles from nowhere offroad.

1st my hats off to Fabr, fiber glassing might be as bad as wiring.   thumb down

Built mold but couldn't find the wax I used 10 yrs ago, so it didnt release as good as I would have liked.  It will pass with a little more sand paper.  Built a tray to hold electric stuff, will be under hood.

Built a new dash out aluminum, looks good.  Now on to wires, and the new hood if I get that far.  drowning drowning drowning

Have all the mount done, installed bike fuel pump in bottom of fuell cell, THANKS Fast, hooked harness back up one last time with new gauge cluster and no fire.  Getting a few codes 1st namely cam position sensor,  ??? Have tip over sensor zip tied level (temporary).  Got a few more parts to pickup online, but gonna get her to fire back off 1st.

More wire testing, I'm guessing a loose conector.   drowning drowning drowning

It runs, it runs, it runs!!!  Have a free long weekend to strech the wires for gauges and keys.

Why the hell would Yamaha use the same connector in 2-3 places.  Some sensors can be plugged into three different places.  bs1 bs1  Dumb ass.  Or dumb ass buggy builder?   nono  If all goes well I'll order up my rack spreader, new regulator, and powercommander V w/auto tune 1st of nest week.

The little stuff take forever and has little buggy porn to show.  Harness 95% done, going to try run lights thru it still.  Fuel cell mounted, with bike fuel pump mounted in bottom.  Worked sweet in the sump area of tank.  Fast modded tank fill neck with a Lear jet or something so its been Fast-a-tized!   rofl  Also picked up some 2" bent tube to cut up for the exhaust, worked out great.  And one of those rice burner muffler tips, well cause its rice powered.

Brown Santa, and Blue on too should stop by tomm with rack spreader and regulator.  Might have a test drive within the week!!!!!

I argued with the diagram for two days.  Wire colors didn't match up on two or three sensors.  DS kept saying you got the wrong diagram.   Nope I had them pluged in the wrong places.  rofl rofl dumbass

Lesson I learned, if it says yellow wire to Throttle sensor, plug yeelow wire to throttle sensor.  Otherwise when it rev's to 18k with open exhause header you could piss yer pants.  Fook it was loud.  LMAO LMAO LMAO

Always down to wire, last minute crap makes me need a vacation.

Picked up a nice billet rack spreader 11" so thought be an easy instal since old rack was 11".  NOT

So what's the problem Carl?  Looks like it's going together pretty nice.  You got lots of room in back of the rack for your bulk head to mount it on.

Well after a trouble free trip to dunes I'm gonna finish a few of the details.  Buggy is still for sale and hopfully some of these details may draw some attention.  Have had the side panels done for some time just never installed, but now have finished up the hood (with a little inspiration froms some DTS'ers).  Should be off to the vinyl girl  ;D hopfully for Xmas.  Was trying to wait for finished product, but build pics been a little slow, so.........

Thought DS would have some build pics by now,   rofl rofl rofl rofl
