The nicest tables I've seen are the Acorn weld platens. A 60x60 is the size I would like.
We have one at work that I used on my first buggy. Here at home I just have a 30x48 that I built.
The top is 5/8 thick. I'm welding my frame up on it now. It's working, but a bigger table would make things a lot easier.

I built this one a few years ago. I used a HF air over Hyd cherry picker cylinder to raise and lower the table the table pins on all 4 legs when you have it adjusted to the right height. The top is 5/8" thick and 4'x5' it might be a little small for buggy frames.

Cool.If a person was to make the uprights as pivots and slot the pivot holes on 2 of the uprights you could have a tilting table also.I likey! :)

That is a good idea I wish I had of thought of that it would have also simplified the build the legs had to be perfectly aligned to keep the legs from binding as it is raised or lowered. I shimmed it up to get the alignment right before welding and it works great but it took a lot of time to get it just right before welding it up.

Still be pretty easy mod to do if you were inclined to.

I like the idea of the lifting table...
I'm pretty partial to this one, even tho- it takes up alot of room in the shop and has become the catch-all on rollers, plenty of room in the drawers for tools and goodies, a stool keeps you at a comfortable height, and low enouph to still weld on the upper tubes on a chassis

The one thing I have not done on mine is to drill a hole patern in the top every 6"-8" so I can use my mill hold down clamps to clamp thigs in the middle of the table. I plan to rent a magnetic drill press to drill the holes I have just never gotten around to doing it.

While not really relevant to what most of us are doing, we had a couple brainstorming sessions at work, and came up with a bad a$$ table.  We built 2 of them, but with 45 fabricators, it was not cost effective for everyone to get one.

The legs are 4" .250 wall round tube.  The support is 2" x 1\4" angle on 12" centers.  Nothing special yet I know.  The top is a 1\2" plate 4'x8'.  On top of that is a 3/4" 4'x8' plate with a 3' diameter circle cut out.  The circle is left in the hole, and an air fitting with a valve is attached to the bottom of the 1\2" plate.  When the valve is open, the circle becomes a lazy Susan, easily rotating to get to the back side of what ever you may be working on at the time.  The nice thing is that it is flush with the table.

Here you can see the cut out.

The yellow foot pedal is the control valve for it.

And the connection under the table.

It's a little fuzzy but youget the idea.
