You know I have a philosophy about tools.  I always tell myself that it would cost me way more to have someone else do it than what I end up spending on the tool.  Plus then ya always have it for next time.  Talk about rationalization  ;D  It works for me !

i have tools i bought under this pretense and have never used again but it was cheaper and better than paying anyone else.

Out of three Fastenal stores here in the Wichita area I have have never found anything there other then bolts and maybe a drill bit or two.  Good for bolts, suck for anything else.

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

The Eagle has landed.

Ordered it up a few weeks back.  Slid into a production spot for a spec model.  The Amish fellers at the factory got it knocked out quickly.  Now sits in Tempe waiting for me to find time to fetch the dang thing.  Yellow accents to match highlights on Jeep.  Already ordered the wheels to match the Jeep.  With luck will get it next week.  Hard wire a brake controller to the Jeep is their due.

Fab guy said new rear bumper, etc is off to powder.  He sent me pictures of parts of it.  Mocked up on his Jeep / bumper.  Basket for stuff to keep inside clutter free and ready for the doggies.  Looking forward to that and the skid plates as well.  Should be cool.

Really wish I had this weekend to mess with stuff.

I guess busy is a good thing right?  Lets me pay for this stuff.

Well, the weekend in Utah was fun.  Quick trip.  Wedding.

So, slammed at work.  Likely will not get the new trailer till Friday - Best case.  Still working on the fenders.  I absolutely hate riv nuts.

In any event, managed to find an hour and got the one front done.   Now to find time to do the other side.

This is stock:

This is the new one:

The kicker was the full width bumper and the horizontal line.

Here is how it lined up:

Stock:

New:

It is a little wider so that works well with the new tires.  The only non perfect fit is the minor area between the bumper and the fender on the old overlap.  Should be fine.  It is what it is.

Did I mention I hate riv nuts?

Now to find a couple of more hours in the week.

If you still hate rivnuts, you didn't buy a good install tool. Rivnuts are easy peasy.

Run it over to your fab guy and have him add a little to the end of the bumper.

Looking great so far.

I was thinking the same thing.  Would be easy to mod.  I will see how I like it.  Or better how much it annoys me.  Always something no?

Well, you are correct.  Started Tuesday, pulled the front fender.  Troubles and frustration called it good.  Wednesday no luck at Fastnal.  Thursday off to Vegas for work.  Friday 15 hours including a drive to Provo.  Saturday:  Provo and SLC.  Sunday:  Drive to Payson and six hours paper work.  Now, still got the Jeep with no fender.  No real issue for me.  It is not my daily driver.

What's that?  Shana wants to drive?  Awww, crap.  See my challenge here?  As she stated "(T)he fun has been sucked right out of this fender project."  I blame the nuts.

Next two days on the road.  Might get a tool.  Might just get a beer and bigger hammer instead.   LMAO

Got up early this morning and put on a new cargo net.  Was not real fond of the other one.  It used a hook system under the rail that would come undone.  Likely not too much of a problem, but odd to see the dogs head hanging out the side of the Jeep driving down the road.

Out with the old:

In with the new.

This uses bolts to hold it all in place.  Seems like a higher quality product overall.

Went ahead and got some sun shade as well.  Yellow.  Should give me a sunny disposition?

This afternoon I will finish the battle with the Riv Nuts.  Effn Riv Nuts.  For now, off to work, and oddly enough will be taking the Jeep today.

Time to stop the yellow.  Too much is well, just too much.
